I'm so angry that this crap is being pushed on girls at school when they should be taught the truth about their biology instead this bs🤬

Primary schoolgirls are told 'MEN have periods' too https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12803867/primary-schoolgirls-male-periods-puberty-claims-row.html?ito=native_share_article-nativemenubutton

Primary schoolgirls are told 'MEN have periods' too

EXCLUSIVE: Hey Girls claims 'not all women have periods and some men have periods' and that it's 'better to use the phrase ''people who have periods''' when talking about menstruation.

you must have not actually read the article

it was in a pamphlet.

as soon as the gov learned they were using “people” rather than girls or women, they asked the company to remove the term, which it immediately did.

A Government spokesman said: 'This is wholly incorrect. This group has never worked with the Department for Education in an advisory capacity.
'We have written to the organisation requesting they immediately remove this misleading and incorrect information from their website.
'We've been repeatedly clear about the importance of biological sex and that contested views, like those around gender identity, should not be taught as fact.
'Our Period Product Scheme for girls and women in schools and colleges uses one national supplier, PHS Group, to deliver free period products across England.'

Petrarkanian · 02/12/2023 09:20

Surely she needs to change the name of the company now.

Hey, young people who menstruate.

It's all bollocks.

It's the fact that this stupid woman thought it fit to do this in the first place though

First thing I thought too. 😂

sugarandsweetener · 02/12/2023 09:24

well yes - a stupid person, who was immediately asked to withdraw her stupid “people” reference, which she did

so not being “pushed” on our school girls at all

Actually you are the one who didn't read the article properly.

The bit you quoted was about hey girls claiming they advised DfE for England

Nothing to do with the wording. Hey girls do supply schools in Scotland and Wales though.

sugarandsweetener · 02/12/2023 09:39

ok so here’s the story

hey girls did a pamphlet where they used stupid term “people” have periods

When Gov learned of it - DofE said “withdraw!”.

Hey Girls did

So where is the above not the case?

sugarandsweetener · 02/12/2023 09:40

you do understand that when they asked them to remove the information from their website… they were referring to “wording” don’t you?

Boiledbeetle · 02/12/2023 09:44

Yes the wording where hey girls on their website said that they advised the department for education in England. That is what they have been told to remove from their website.

For heaven's sake. 'Schoolgirls' and 'primary school girls' is a turn of phrase.

Read the booklet - this is aimed at educating girls about periods. It's misinformation. Are you sure it is not available in schools.

sugarandsweetener · 02/12/2023 09:45

yes but if you actually go on to website and read the pamphlet - they have removed any reference to “people” and it is all women and girls now

sugarandsweetener · 02/12/2023 09:49

i stand corrected. apologies.

Boiledbeetle · 02/12/2023 09:51

sugarandsweetener · 02/12/2023 09:45

They may well have done but that wasn't the issue where you are saying someone hasn't read the article about what the department for education for England had said.

The department for education in England told them to removes the claim they advised the department of education for England.

They are still free to peddle their misinformation to the government's of Scotland and Wales.

Boiledbeetle · 02/12/2023 09:52

I think we all need more coffee 😁

Hoardasurass · 02/12/2023 10:03

I accept your apology @sugarandsweetener but suggest that you carefully read the article next time before making a fool of yourself by claiming that others haven't, I have included a screenshot of the relevant piece of the article which clearly states that it's the lies about having worked with the education department that Hey Girls were told to remove.

but genuine question

where does it say they are pushing this in to our girls? quite clearly the DofE doesn’t agree and specifically says women and children

In the screen shots below it says exactly that and specifically that they are in Scottish and Welsh schools and that they have atleast 2 videos for teens aswell.
Please reread the whole article it answers all your questions.
Now I have a question of my own, why are you so invested in dismissing the article and minimizing the harm that this company is causing to girls and women?

Why are they involved with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority?!

Imnobody4 · 02/12/2023 14:58

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has introduced complimentary period products in its Cumbria and Warrington offices to help tackle period poverty.Through a partnership with social enterprise Hey Girls, period products will be available to any NDA employee who needs them. It is part of a drive to ensure its workspaces are welcoming, inclusive and safe places for staff, and to create positive change in the communities in which it operates.https://employeebenefits.co.uk/nuclear-decommissioning-authority-introduces-free-period-products-for-staff/

Topofthemountain · 02/12/2023 15:40

"One in ten people experience period poverty."

Well that's a load of rubbish, however poor my family may become, my ds and DH will never experience period poverty. My two daughters and l could.

It becomes absolute meaningless rubbish.

V good point!

This isn’t about inclusivity, never has been. It’s about controlling women and girls. Our freedom of speech, our right to meet without males present, our right to even have a word to refer to ourselves.

I read it that they provided period products to these schools ie tampons etc

1 in 10…. it’s daft isn’t it. i’d love to know more about the source of this stat

chaosmaker · 03/12/2023 18:21

I'm bemused that anyone in this day and age thinks we make up periods and how bloody and clotty they can be and also that they believe we can control them. If that was the case don't they think we'd choose to never have any?
