I used to admire the White Ribbon movement, from what I knew about it - men stepping up to challenge sexism instead of leaving it all to us seemed like a great idea. That said, it never had widespread support, did it? I don't remember any high profile actions by them in response to serious anti women crimes.
Does anybody know anything about the Toronto Men's Group who were around in the 80s I think? All I know about them is that they developed a number of strategies for men to be less of a threat to women, eg if a man finds himself walking behind a woman at night, to cross the road so she won't feel she's being followed. The only other thing I know about them is their excellent motto:
'To women, their rights and no less. To men, our rights and no more.'
If only..
