I mostly agree with the article but not so much with the split between pathological and normal. Plenty of "normal" people can be radicalised. I suppose you could almost see that as a sort of viral pathologising or corrupting of them. And then as well, many people collude for many different reasons on top of this.
And as regards "be kind", I also can't stand "sharing is caring". Again it brings up issues of consent for me. I think it's the difference between sloganistic "rules" where children are shamed into doing something and then nuanced role modelling that compassion and generosity are what we do because they make us feel good and create a good society for us to live in. Competition versus contribution based. Fear/threat system based learning versus love/care system based learning. Even just the fact that "be kind" is an imperative should be enough to warn us...
