Read up on Elagabalus - he was considered to be a nasty piece of work and a massive pervert. The TWs can have him 😉

Museum no one has heard of claims an emperor no one has heard of was really transgender. And now it's being reported on the BBC.

It's almost like it's actually a publicity stunt Hmm.

So we have academics saying that actually references to female pronouns may have been made by opponents or those wishing to weaken the emperor. But also someone (who doesn't appear to have a background in ancient roman emperors) say how nice and polite it is to refer to the emperor as she as clearly that's how the emperor wished to be known as...

Politeness trumps historical expertise?

OK...

Given that the Romans habitually drank from lead vessels and ate from lead plates and their water was delivered via lead-lined aqueducts, it is a miracle that every Roman over the age of 12 wasn't completely barking.

That article ends with "It shows that pronouns are not a new thing." Well, no, of course not. They've been part of spoken and written language for as long as people have been speaking and writing, much like nouns, verbs, and every other part of speech.
Or are grammatical categories also to become the property of the trans movement?
