Buying my milk and the radio announces that co op are supporting trans awareness or trans people who’ve died in glorious fight for freedom or some such week. What?! Why?! Didn’t we just have trans month and trans visibility day and whatever. I don’t recall them celebrating disabled people or black history I . Just. Want. Milk.

DH is a diversity and inclusion officer for his department in the company he works for. He joined so that he could stop them converting all of the women’s toilets to unisex.

Today they put the pride flag out and the 3 trans women who are in the company made a speech. They talked about Alan Turing (DH is in tech) and about how he was pushed to suicide.

DH was livid and had to stop himself interrupting to say that Alan Turing was gay. Not trans. DD is gay so DH is particularly defensive of keeping the T and LGB separate.

Three MEN made a speech. Because men do like to centre themselves - whether or not they like to think of themselves as women

Jo Bartosch:
^^
"While there is nothing wrong with paying respects to those who have been killed, the problem with Transgender Day of Remembrance is that it gives the misleading impression that trans people in the UK are under constant threat. For instance, an Evening Standard article shared by Khan piously opined that Transgender Day of Remembrance marks the ‘memory of transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence during the year’.

Thankfully, there are no confirmed examples from the past 12 months of anyone who has been murdered as a result of transphobic bigotry in the UK. One trans-identified teenager, Brianna Ghey, was tragically killed in February. However, the full details surrounding the case, such as the motives of the suspects, have yet to be made public."

The myth behind ‘Transgender Day of Remembrance’

The dangers faced by trans people are being wildly exaggerated to promote a dangerous ideology.

is there a reason this upsets you? You can have issues with sharing toilets or the meaning of trans, whatever, but still be respectful that trans people exist and have high suicide rates 😳 you can still have some empathy

What other groups are the Co Op making tannoy announcements about?

Well done and thank you to your DH.
