Sorry. I know this has been done to death.

But DS showed me this video earlier. We thought it was mostly (all?) Bollocks.
Lots of "well studies have proven" but no real mention of these studies and my Google results said otherwise.

Its a group of trans athletes arguing against the assumptions made about trans people. Such as '"trans women don't have higher testosterone than c** women"

But its all crap isn't it? TW do have an advantage?

Are Trans Athletes Cheating? | Assumptions

Welcome to our pilot episode for Assumptions where we have Trans Athletes confront assumptions about gender Identity in athletics. Come back in two weeks for...

Transwoman are biological males, potentially with some level of hormonal or surgical adjustments.

Maybe start with establishing the sex based differences like here https://boysvswomen.com/#/

Than you can think about what is causing the differences - and how much of it isn't dependent on current testosterone level, just on going through male puberty, or being born male.

Transwomen can have different levels of testosterone, depending on whether and how much they lower it by medication, but even if they do, it 1)typically isn't on the typical female level 2) doesn't solve the advantages

If boys are faster than elite female athletes, should males compete in female athletics?

See how the best high school boys stack up against the best female Olympians and World Record holders in Track & Field and Swimming.

Of course it's all bollocks. Pun intended. The clue is in the lack of supporting evidence and the lack of people with relevant knowledge speaking. Individual athletes are not experts in sports science research.

The boys v women site is a good starting point. Also looking at the differences between world records in any sport you care to think of between women and men.

Transwomen don't have to have had any surgery before declaring themselves to be women. Cross sex hormone treatment does not and cannot remove the many physical difference between women and men.

My last sentence was meant to be a statement not a question Blush
I'm angry that these videos can be put out there with their fake facts for young people to find, watch and believe.

Thanks for the links and graphics though. They'll be interesting to look at properly.

@Terfosaurus
Yeah, the misalignment between the question mark and your username was a bit confusing :)

I imagined someone who knows about the differences, but might use something easy to use to equip their DC.

Joe Rogan is really good on this subject, just google "Joe Rogan on Transwomen in women's sports" and click videos tab. There's loads.

Luckily DC are totally on the same side as me. DS did do a brief "oh... but if their testosterone levels are that low..."
Then he googled it and saw that it isn't that low.

No idea if that makes sense. My brain isn't working so well tonight.

I think the most up-to-date IOC guidelines are that any TW who has gone through male puberty should be excluded from women's sport (correct me if I'm wrong).
These guidelines then leave it plain for all to see that some children are given medication to prevent natural puberty which is an ethical minefield.

SabrinaThwaite · 16/11/2023 22:29

If you’re on Twitter / X, then iheartbikes had a whole thread running on TW in cycling (like Chelsea Wolfe in the OP’s video).

It’s eye opening how quickly mediocre men take over the women’s competitions once they “transition”.

No, the IOC is still captured and has left it up to individual sports federations to determine their own rules.

So World Athletics, World Swimming, World Rugby and the UCI (cycling) have all said that if a male has gone through puberty they cannot take part in women’s events; however, the issue is how far down into grassroots these policies extend and that events not sanctioned by the governing body (such as gravel bike racing) are still open to being dominated by TW.

I think MN has done weird underlining on that X account name - there are underscores between i and heart and between heart and bikes.

My dc are well aware of that!

But if course that works both ways. Google can find statistics that "prove" 2 opposing points of view. Sometimes it's hard to know which to believe.
