Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

To say that views about press coverage of the women’s sex-based rights movement are polarised is putting it mildly

All the articles alleging transphobia ... refer to media rather than press specifically. Media encompasses the giant social platforms as well as smaller websites, TV, radio and books. British gender-critical feminists have established strong presences on Facebook and Twitter as well as – where some of the first feminist criticism of self-ID proposals was posted. Any discussion of media overall would need to consider a vast amount of material.

The author of this article is a Guardian leader writer - not that I have seen opinions like this in the Guardian which sort of undermines her arguement that the UK Press has been balanced in its reporting.

And this isn't printed in the Guardian but a guest post for WPUK! https://womansplaceuk.org/2023/11/08/a-guest-blog-by-susanna-rustin/

A Woman's Place is in the Press: a guest blog by Susanna Rustin - Woman's Place UK

A guest blog by Susanna Rustin. The “no debate” strategy of the self-ID campaign did not in the end succeed. #WPUKPress

Susanna Rustin has written about it in the Guardian before, and she got quite a lot of shit for it.

I'm not sure what your issue is with this article exactly? It's not very clear.

For some reason a video clip has appeared in the middle of the quote I posted in the OP so will try and post it again:

All the articles alleging transphobia quoted above refer to media rather than press specifically. Media encompasses the giant social platforms as well as smaller websites, TV, radio and books. British gender-critical feminists have established strong presences on Facebook and Twitter as well as Musnet – where some of the first feminist criticism of self-ID proposals was posted. Any discussion of media overall would need to consider a vast amount of material.

I dont have an "issue". I was commenting on her attempt to say that the press is different (better) that the media.

What is your contention with Susanna Rustin's comment exactly? The press is different in other countries. No it isn't perfect in the U.K., but it's probably been more possible for women to express the gender critical viewpoint in the press here than any other country in the world.

It's a good article IMO, whatever you think of WPUK, most of which I expect I agree with.
