Found a solution for women who want a chest reduction and a tummy tuck

Claim to be non-binary! Ask for a "non flat top surgery" and a tummy tuck.

The tummy tuck is gender care because you'll be misgendered less.

In the video the presenter talks about doing this they are no longer misgendered. But they describe themself as non-binary. Genuine question (which I don't mean to offend anyone by asking) but how is it possible to misgender a non-binary person. This question comes from a place of wishing to be educated rather than to goad.

Acknowledging their sex.

Are you presuming that "gender" refers to sex and that "misgendering" involves not calling a man a woman if that is what he demands, for instance?

Oh dear

In Genderlanc there are 72 genders. Or 100. Possibly another figure. "Non-binary" is one of them.

In Genderland, you have to know the individual gender of every person you ever have contact with in any way, and treat all of them according to their demands.

WeighDownOnMe · 05/11/2023 10:10

Wow, could have saved myself £7k.

Justme56 · 05/11/2023 10:56

Personally I think having a breast reduction or a tummy tuck will do little to stop any misgendering. Although rather drastic maybe a non binary tattoo on the forehead could be an option. Not hugely attractive but if it alleviates their distress best consider all the options.

EveryBlinkingDay · 05/11/2023 11:46

@Chersfrozenface I'm not sure if I'm much the wiser. If there are 100+ genders then the issue of misgendering makes no sense in a lot of cases (not all). I've looked up some of them and I simply wouldn't know how best to address someone who was, for example: demigender or intergender, so I'd have to go on what my eyes and ears tell me.

In the case of the person in the video I would use female pronouns as to me they look and sound female. Obviously that would be with no prior knowledge of how they identify, so would I still being offensive to them if I used she / her?

Again, genuine question. I am not intending to be obtuse or anything. This is something I know little about and what to learn.

CyberCritical · 05/11/2023 11:52

You're not being obtuse at all @EveryBlinkingDay. The woman in the video looks, talks, presents as a woman. After surgery she will look, talk, present as a slimmer woman with smaller boobs. She will not suddenly appear and be referred to as some intermediate/non gendered being.

Chersfrozenface · 05/11/2023 12:07

@EveryBlinkingDay I'm afraid I was being more than a little flippant

You are not wrong in seeing a person as female if that person is female.

The people who are wrong are those trying to force you, or anyone else, to believe that humans can ever be anything other than biologically male or female. And call you names, or worse, if you don't turn yourself inside out conforming to their demands.

The person in the video insists she is non-binary, which is impossible, since human sex is binary..

If you can do so without real-life consequences such as threats, violence, risk to livelihood, ignore the whole concept of "misgendering". Describe people as you see them. And also, if you can, avoid people with "gender identities".

In circumstances where you can't do the above, keep quiet, avoid the subject, use compelled speech like pronouns and descriptions as little as possible. Read about the subject.

Would be my advice.

From their insta page…

I’m (not) sorry - the fucking mashing up of conditions under the Neurodivergent Umbrella & that fucking book; “we’re all neurodivergent”. Fuck off.

Presentation of conditions may be similar, even treatments but not necessarily outcomes ie SpLD v Down’s Syndrome.

I’m all for better understanding of people’s difficulties, better scaffolding in schools/workplaces. But this constant pathologising, navel gazing, co-opting shite…

So which is it - the most intersectionality points collected ever; or has no-one questioned why someone with a co-morbid diagnosis is also non-binary (whatever that is). & this person is invited to speak to (educate) us…

A friend of mine has enormous breasts. The rest of her body is quite slim but her boobs are so large they actually come down to her waist. She has suffered horrendous back pain for years but NHS refuse to help. Told her she needs to lose weight. She has tried but the weight just doesn't come off her boobs.
I might suggest she declares herself non binary. She might have more success

Vespanest · 05/11/2023 13:48

The only way to not misgender non binary is to remove all gendering language completely. Waiting for the ticking time bomb that is the push for neutral language which will annoy those wanting to be addressed by their gender.

How does one address someone according to their gender?

In all the languages I'm familiar with*, you address people by variants on names or salutations such as Monsieur Lebrun or Heini and use variants on 'thou' and 'you', or third-person pronouns like "Sie' and "usted' which are the same for male and female.

*admittedly they are all European languages.

Or do you mean refer to in the third perso rather than address? So using some non-gendered third-person neo-pronoun to refer to everyone? In all languages?

This is exactly why I posted. You should tell your friend to identify as non binary and to request "non flat top surgery"

I scrolled down and came across the nipple thing....that's new to me

Sisterpita · 05/11/2023 16:14

FFS please tell me this is not NHS funded. I quite like non-binary language as it means I can use they/them for transwomen rather than she/her.

Terfosaurus · 05/11/2023 16:27

Will being non binary mean I can have my facial hair lasered off on the NHS? I could if I was a TW, but not as a woman.

If so sign me up for the full lot. Boob job (I only want a tiny reduction so I fit in standard cups sizes that they sell in Tesco etc), tummy tuck and hair removal.

unhingedminge · 05/11/2023 17:41

WTF??? This woman looks seriously unhinged, she also seems to be obsessed with being 13 again so I wonder if she has some kind of trans-age motive for her surgery and being non-binary. I am not sure if she is paying for this out of pocket i.e. a tummy tuck and breast reduction but there is no way anyone else should be paying for this kind of surgery for her via a national health service or health insurance.

nepeta · 05/11/2023 17:53

I always keep coming back to the basic definition of 'nonbinary', because it requires that others are stuffed into binary boxes. As the nonbinary are also either male or female, their demand to be seen as nonbinary is not about biological sex.

It is about sexist gender stereotypes, clearly. So they declare that they shouldn't be subject to those, while others are assumed to be happy and content with being subjected to the same.

This is rude.

It also makes feminism pretty close to impossible, given that now 'women' are assumed to be comfortable with whatever crappy opinions the culture they live in holds about women in general, and given that now the kinds of fights feminists waged on behalf of women are supposed to be on behalf of menstruators or gestators or vulva people.

I'd like to know what the gender roles and norms for nonbinary people are, given that they are the new enforcers of retrogressive roles and rules for others.

Are they expected to do the unpaid care etc. at home if they are partnered with men but not if they are partnered with women? Do they expect to get paid somewhere in the middle of the average male and female pay? There must be some other consequences than pronoun changes, right?
