I’m stunned that in this day and age this level of sexism still exists in public services that should bloody well know better. So much for having all the DEI training courses and the influx of HR managers into the public sector 🤷‍♀️

I remember reading about tribunal cases like this in the 80s and 90s; they were well-publicised too, as were the judgements against the employer, so how on earth is this shit still being allowed to happen!?

A senior female firearms officer has won £30,000 in a sex discrimination and harassment case after being stripped down to her underwear during a training course.

What a mess of a force. As you say, this all happened in recent times and not 30-40 years ago.

£30k is an absolute joke seeing as she's been retired as a consequence.

The money isn’t nearly enough but she sounds like a kick ass woman and I’m glad she’s got her win.

The stuff about female-body appropriate PPE is also really important.

To be honest, the lack of appropriate PPE is mind boggling to me given the dangerous nature of the job. I would have expected that to be rectified for policewomen given that over the last number of decades there have been high profile employment tribunal decisions about this for other high risk jobs. So at the very least the HR department should have made sure she had what she needed even if her commanding officer didn’t.

But then I remember that the NHS doesn’t have adequate PPE for its majority female staff and I’m both disappointed and disgusted at the lack of basic accommodation for women in a lot of workplaces.
