Just wondering how long these investigations should take. If a Charity working with vulnerable children is under investigation for potentially unsafe practices, surely it is really important to get the results asap to minimise the possible harms.

How long is a piece of string? It will depend on so many different factors. But it's important that the investigation is thoroughly conducted and the correct conclusions reached, not that it is fast.

Given that the investigations must cover paedophile connections, data breaches of children's information, staff who work directly with children hosting pornified naked images of themselves online, hopefully they're taking their time to ensure that the grim details are fully investigated and exposed.

For someone unfamiliar with mermaids it must be a massive shock to see just how dangerous they are. I can quite imagine someone sitting there in stunned silence time after time as they find out yet another scandalous thing

This is an interesting post from Dennis Kavanagh:

Mermaids has issued a statement explaining that the reason Susie Green had resigned as CEO was nothing to do with "issues in relation to her leadership" as speculated in the press at the time.

So it's taken them a year to set the record straight. Dennis believes (correctly, I imagine) that Mermaids have been trying to distance themselves from Green, and Green's lawyers have been putting pressure on Mermaids to make a supportive statement. All very interesting.

That's quite a statement, it will be interesting to see that within the context of the outcome.

Do those involved get an interim report?

Hard work, passion & commitment are not intrinsically beneficent qualities.

I expect Mao Zedong, Hitler and Pol Pot had them too.

'Bell said she expected the Charity Commission’s statutory inquiry into Mermaids’ governance and management, which opened in November 2022, to continue “for the next several months”.'
...
'The charity is currently without a permanent chief executive.
It appointed Lauren Stoner on an interim basis in December after its last permanent CEO Susie Green left after six years in post.
Mermaids said its recruitment for a permanent CEO had not yet begun'

'The Commission opened a statutory inquiry into Mermaids in November last year, after identifying concerns about its governance and management.
Stoner says the charity is hoping the investigation “will be wrapped up this year”'

Quite a long article, and really shows how charity is an industry for many people working within it. That often bears little relation to the issues its ostensibly working on.
