I searched and couldn't see another thread. I've never heard of this before.

www.festivalofthegirl.com

The Inclusivity statement is interesting
While we use the term “girl” to address the barriers that girls face at a young age, our mission is inclusive of trans and non-binary communities, and we encourage young people of any gender to take part.
I attach a photo of the ad in my local paper, sorry for the shadow

They are so close to getting it and yet so far...

"Festival of The Girl is a not-for-profit initiative that aims to inspire and engage girls aged 7 - 11 years and support adults to raise girls in a less stereotyped way."

"As the female body becomes more visible in all shapes and sizes, how do we learn to love our own? From posture to periods and make-up to muscles, we’ll cover it."

"We believe that gender stereotypes are harmful for both genders. And we also believe that they place more limits on girls, or those who identify as female."

we encourage young people of any gender to take part.

So robotics, motor sports and rugby, open to all children.

That's nice but I think there is a fair chance of getting more boys than girls participating.

Why bother calling it festival of the girl if it's not for girls?

I know it’s a typo but I think Festival If The Girl probably fits better.

"We believe that gender stereotypes are harmful for both genders. And we also believe that they place more limits on girls, or those who identify as female."

But doesn't a male-bodied person who identifies as as femaile do so precisely because they want to adopt the female gender stereotype?

Seems weird for such a person to be concerned that the female stereotype is placing a limit on them.

What am I missing?
