This is an interesting one. He is described as a man in women's clothing and apparently exposed prosthetic genitals, not his own meat and two veg. Strange.

Suspended sentence ffs.

WallaceinAnderland · 15/10/2023 12:40

He wore women’s clothing to lure his victims and make them initially feel at ease in his company.

Surely not. We are constantly told this never happens.

DRS1970 · 15/10/2023 12:41

I read another article about this offence. He wasn't trans, he just wore women's clothes to lull the victims into feeling safe because the person presenting to them also appeared female. He he was described as a man in women's clothing, rather than trans.

WolfFoxHare · 15/10/2023 12:44

I’m not sure I’d feel safer if I saw bloke walking round in a tutu at night than if I saw a bloke in a hoodie/jacket/t-shirt.

Gothambutnotahamster · 15/10/2023 12:45

Of course he was @DRS1970 as couldn't actually tell the truth about a trans person who has committed a crime!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 15/10/2023 12:46

I'm sure the seven women he sexually assaulted are relieved that he got a suspended sentence and is free to continue wandering the streets 😑 Always good to see that the courts recognise the seriousness of sexual abuse of women.

bombastix · 15/10/2023 12:49

This may be worth referring to the Attorney General for unduly lenient sentencing because it looks to me like several aggravating features were overlooked. Hopefully it falls within the scheme as it's not clear from the article but it should fall with Annex A, section 3 sexual offences.

Also, fed up with judges suspending sentences for first time offending, in the case of repeated sexual assault I can't imagine why this is permitted.

Chersfrozenface · 15/10/2023 12:54

There is already a thread on this.

I doubt whether the victims thought he was a woman. He looked male and his clothing included tutus, fishnets and tights, which are sexualised and not usual street or even clubbing garments for most women. But drag is now so normalised that the victims probably just thought "Gay bloke in drag" or "Bloke who likes drag" so believed he wasn't a threat.

Anyway, the thread

Oops sorry, I didn't realise there was already a thread. I did look but didn't do a search Blush

Why do you want him to be trans? Because it fits your narrative that all trans women are dangerous predators? Maybe start telling us when a sexual predator with brown hair is convicted and then we can assume that all men with brown hair are therefore to be feared. Lazy and bigoted thinking.

TheaBrandt · 15/10/2023 13:05

Gosh men are weird.

No man is a woman.

The reason they're not calling him trans is because he hasn't said he's a woman. If he decides to say he is, then he would be trans.

Acceptance without exception, remember?

Likewise, I strongly suspect that if he had been sent to prison, and could get into a woman's prison by saying he is, he would. Even the prison service says many do.

Acceptance without exception, innit.

Without exception.

Nah, you're not getting it.

Many women don't even believe in trans , in the way you mean it. Just men who like to say they are women.

If that gets you into women's spaces and prisons, it's less a case of all transwomen being predators, rather than all predators can identify as trans.

  1. How do you distinguish a TW from a man dressed as a woman?

2)The vast majority of violent and sexual crime is committed by men so 1) doesn't really matter.

Very succinct.

Gotham did not say that all transwomen are dangerous predators. Government statistics show that transwomen in prison are more likely to have been convicted of sexual offences than other male prisoners.

Their offending is sometimes facilitated by their trans role. For example, through gaining access to women’s spaces, including prisons, or by convincing potential victims that they are women.

Gothambutnotahamster · 15/10/2023 21:54

Thank you @Datun, @ItsAllGoingToBeFine & @Ofcourseshecan - you've expressed my point more eloquently than I did.

Im not saying all transwomen are predators but when a transwoman is a predator, somehow the reporting is disingenuous, & they're often described as anything other than trans, when that would be a hate crime in any other setting.

JanesLittleGirl · 15/10/2023 22:02

What is the difference between a man who dresses as a woman to gain some advantage and a transwoman?

Gothambutnotahamster · 15/10/2023 22:25

I have no clue @JanesLittleGirl ! That's the fucked-up-ness of this whole thing!
