#helloyellow

I have recently become aware of #helloyellow day (wear yellow to school and donate), which raises money for a charity called Young Minds. I hasn't heard of this charity before but they affirm gender identities, refer to cisgender people, and signpost to Gendered Intelligence and Stonewall from their website. Does anyone know how they use their funding?

I know that most mental health services for children and young people are gender affirming. At what point do things like the Cass Review make an impact? What can be done?

Young Minds was a really good charity supporting young people. Sadly, like so many in the charity sector, it's been captured by a dangerous to children ideology which leads them to adopt anti safeguarding, age inappropriate behaviours.
It won't be until the catastrophic outcomes for young people caught up in this become more evident that things will change. 😔

tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if it has no meaningful impact.

There's a distributed infrastructure in place of GI supporters who will take over seamlessly where Tavistock GIDS left off.

The NHS will manage to implement unquestioning affirmation and introduce early treatment with medication.

I felt Cass was too little and too late when the interim report appeared. And GI supporters are already in place in every relevant clinical and patient voice group.

That’s shocking! Thank you for raising this issue

starfruittree · 09/10/2023 14:52

I hadn't thought of this. DCs are wearing yellow today but school haven't asked for any money, so that's a relief!

So frustrating.

Here is a link to their info on the charity commission website

We are doing it but no fundraising and the focus is on taking time out for better mental health.

We do not have any gender ideology* in our school and right now we are doing Black History Month.

*We have had a number of assemblies on inspiring people and JK Rowling has featured in almost every one.

Sounds good!

This is my fear, too.

I watched another yt interview with Helen Joyce today, and she said that she believes it it so deeply embedded in our institutions that she expects to be fighting it for the rest of her life, and suggested to the 30/40 something interviewers that it will take their whole lifetimes too.

She so incredibly bright, I was sad to hear that she doesn't expect to see success.

GI is awful and gets money from councils all over to do their EDI unlawful policies.

What may make (slow) impact as it's been informed by the Cass review is the
new NHSE endorsed training module for under 18s and is a change in direction from instant affirmation and the need to be mindful of underlying issues.

It's online learning for all NHS professionals working with children and those working in education settings, parents and carers. There's a professional section and a public section but it's free to access.

Endorsed my a great deal of professional bodies:

We should be sharing it with whoever we can.

WarriorN · 11/10/2023 10:46

*as is a change in direction

Colourfulponderings · 11/10/2023 10:47

Oh no, I’ve already sent money in for this charity.
