Well, I may well have been.

The designs by Arup, who are the Penis News, Patrick Whittle and Billy Braggs of the architectural world

Arup is the pin-up Stonewall boy

Their head of EDI, Luke Ives is on think tank building policy making boards as well as a trustee of the Proud Trust blog.planningportal.co.uk/2023/06/30/promoting-equity-diversity-and-inclusion-in-planning/

Can we have a consultation to support women that's already been hijacked right from the start?

Useful folded up to act as a doorstop. Or on the wall as a dartboard.

JellySaurus · 07/10/2023 22:45

Probably moved up so many places because so many higher places subscribers have dumped Stonewall.

Hope so!!!

Thus undoing decades of work to make construction a more female friends industry.
V-E-R-Y slow handclap, Arup.

BabyStopCryin · 08/10/2023 12:00

Construction industry has been very much stonewalled. I have seen it a lot with ‘progress’ pride +++ flags on sites and offices, (mostly) women using pronouns on official profiles and emails, websites bedecked with D&I (ie men friendly) dogma. No idea why.

Grimchmas · 08/10/2023 12:04

The construction industry still had a massive problem with the way it treats women. Be nice if they fixed that.

BabyStopCryin · 08/10/2023 12:19

Oh but if they stick a ribbon it then that’s all fixed then?

I was recently talking to a (male) lawyer who was on an internal group looking at why so few women were in the top jobs there (and why so few applied).

I asked him if they allow males to identify as women (and they do because I have met some in their offices) therefore using women’s loos, gym changing areas, take seats on women groups, and represent the company as a woman, etc.

Their website is full of D&I flags and banners and pronouns, and pride month, Trans awareness days/weeks etc, black history month events, yet don’t ever mark IWD or menopause awareness etc.

And I wonder why women aren’t applying…

Regardless of who's been involved with it, the actual proposals being made in the consultation seem reasonable and good for women though, it seems to me - do you have any issue with those? I know Sex Matters have a few bits of feedback they are suggesting people give to further strengthen the policy (such as that it could be made clearer that universal - i.e. individual, single-user - toilets should not be used instead of single-sex), but they also seem to see it as broadly quite positive. So there doesn't seem to have been any undue Stonewall influence on the proposals, and it would be good if they are accepted IMO. The proposals do not allow "gender neutral" (i.e. mixed-sex) facilities, only single-sex (M/F) and additional single-user "universal" toilets where relevant, which is a huge improvement on the current state of affairs!

Also the consultation closes TODAY, so if you haven't already responded, please do as it's the last chance!

Arup are a very respectable company with a great track record on human rights and sustainable planning, however many senior directors use pronouns in their email signatures. From top to bottom they are completely captured by gender woo woo. Lesbians and gay men who are excluded from the internal LGBT group as they don't kowtow down to the trans bullies.

My wife used to work for Arup and they ran a session recently called "Queering the Public Space" featuring an American TRA. They are not a benevolent company. They are extreme trans activists. And I've no doubt that the EDI team would have had their hands all over their designs!!!!!
