Just posting this as a link thread to others because it is an positive story!

Cathy Boardman
I am pleased to announce that I have reached an agreement with my previous employer https://twitter.com/grittynorthern/status/1707058992202019212?s=46&t=NGJBRqkXgp1UazF5I8yjXA

The thread title is quote from the statement issued!

Earlier thread about this case https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womensrights/4611100-cathy-boardman-another-lecturer-treated-badly?page=1

And very generously Cathy Boardman has donated some of the extra money donated to her case to I Am Sarah https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womensrights/4539958-big-update-on-rape-crisis-legal-challenge?page=34&reply=128868134

So congratualtions to two brave women.

And we all win because we can now quote "Legally protected beliefs in the immutability of sex"

I wish to thank my solicitor Liz McGlode of Didlaw, and barrister Naomi Cunningham, who have guided me through this process. I am also incredibly grateful to every single person who has supported my crowdfunder, through sharing my case and / or donating. 2/

There are many cases which I believe are similar to mine, and thankfully it is increasingly being recognised in law that sex matters, and that employees have a right to express this. 3/

I am glad that BIMM have asserted a commitment to respecting and supporting staff who hold these legally protected views. 4/

Sex matters particularly to woman and girls who have survived male sexual violence and need the safety of female-only services to recover. As such, any money left in this pot will go to @SarahSurviving 5/

Sarah Summers’ case is one I am very passionate about, and I have no doubt that anyone who supported me would support her. 6/

Woop woop woop!
Another victory for the belief in sex being immutable 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well done to all involved.

When I saw the Forstater judgement on this, it originally annoyed me that my belief (that sex is immutable) was considered just that.... a belief.

But my feelings on this have changed completely. It's great that it's a protected belief. It's also absolutely fine that some people believe that we all have a gender (identity) i.e. an inner sense of a gender, or a gendered soul.

What's not a all fine is enforcing that belief as a truth in legislation, education and healthcare. In turn, I don't compel or enforce my belief that sex is immutable. The Equality Act recognises sex as a protected characteristic, whether it's immutable or not, and it is accepted that sex is either male or female. It is also accepted, rightly so that nobody should be discriminated against for being at any stage of gender reassignment i.e. a man who identifies as a woman (or a woman who identifies as a man) can't be treated any less favourably than a man who does not identify as a woman (or a woman who does not identify as a man). Obviously likewise for any man or woman who identifies as non-binary or any other gender identity.

This is a diversion of the thread, but a similar thing:

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/law-protects-opposition-to-critical-race-theory-judge-rules-rmrj2qnzt

Holding a view that does not subscribe to critical race theory is a protected characteristic under equality laws, a judge has ruled in what is believed to be a legal first in the UK.

Sean Corby, an employee of the government’s workplace conciliation service Acas, took the organisation to an employment tribunal after bosses ordered him to remove comments that he posted on social media that were critical of Black Lives Matter (BLM).

Corby had written that critical race theory, an ideology that believes racism is entrenched in society and which is at the heart of the BLM movement, is divisive because it portrays white people as racist....

That's really interesting. I think too often some people jump in with both feet and as with being gender critical people point the finger and say transphobic, but because you dont subscribe to critical race theory doesn't mean you are racist.

Though must admit I haven't read what his arguements are!
