GC thoughtcrime slips through the net at The Guardian in a review of the latest series of Sex Education

I was just reading a review of the laterst series of Sex Education in The Guardian when this delightful nugget appeared:

If Sex Education were staying true to its early, far more radical roots, it might have questioned the idea of surgery on healthy bodies as a cure for anything, but although it hints later at the potential downsides of relentless positivity, here the rule remains absolute affirmation only.

Well done Lucy Mangan!

Sex Education final season review – one long list of frustrations

In this farewell series, the glorious horny teenagers we knew and loved have become earnest bores who use therapy speak and exist mainly to tick boxes. What a mood killer

”truth was spoken in error and will now be erased”

stealth editing … very gauche

Such is the power of FWR that the title of threads get immediately highlighted by google etc.. So unfortunately this thread may have alerted the Guardian trans enforcers that a member of staff had stepped out of line.

But on the other hand, this thread now not only shows what the original review said, but also that the Guardian censors its own writers.

One up for FWR and two down to the Guardian.

I too heard the woman who writes the series being interviewed, and it all seemed a bit gushy and how wonderful. And then towards the end, prompted by a presumably well schooled interviewer's question, it turned into a sort of "I have been reprogrammed" monologue from the writer about the problem of the lack of representation of trans people, how empowering it had been to get them on board, and to be on screen representing themselves, and on and on and on. Quite idsturbing.
