'A hustings to discuss issues relating to women's rights ahead of the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election has been cancelled after the venue cited the group failed to "present a balanced view to the local electorate".
Women Won't Wheesht (WWW) invited candidates to a public meeting at Number 18, a venue in Rutherglen. The group have been at the forefront of protests against the Scottish Government's Gender Recognition Reform (GRR) Bill that heads to court this week and have been unapologetic about their gender critical views, however they claim they are "a women's rights organisation and are politically non-partisan".'

This reminds me of some recent internal elections in the Green Party of England and Wales.

There was a national hustings (on zoom) but some of the special interest groups also held hustings.

Green Party Women held a hustings but half of the candidates took to Twitter to announce they weren't going to turn up because the questions made them feel unsafe.

So no Labour, green, Lib Dem or snp, @WomenWontWheesht? Is that, well, usual? They usually turn up for question time, I’m sure I’ve seen them

Good to see. I'd hope to see the other parties speak to women, too. Unless that's a demographic they're just not that bothered about, I suppose.

Apparently standing room only at the hustings!

There is also 5 (yes, 5) TRA protesters currently standing outside the hustings. Including what appears to be an SNP Councillor.

Just as a reminder, Katy Loudon, the SNP candidate, refused to attend this non-selective hustings to answer questions from the electorate.
