This was an interesting session to listen to. She obviously has done her research into Money. I wonder if anyone here has read the book or is it even available here yet?

I'm bumping this because it is a particularly good one.

So I am 12 minutes in and it is interesting what she says about pink or blue blankets in US hospitals. Apparently now all blankets have both colours which of course is reminiscent of the trans flag. I have worked in maternity in the UK on and off for 25 years. We’ve never had this. In the past we had white blankets for babies, now we have pale green baby blankets in the trust where I work but very often babies are just wrapped in a white towel with hospital property written on it in blue until parents take it off and put their own clothes and blankets on the baby.

When I was growing up I remember that babies were always in neutral colours in the early months, white, pale green, pale yellow. The same style for boys and girls, just baby style. I suppose that didn’t really suit capitalism.

I haven’t yet finished watching, but as an American I found her assertion about the hospital blankets weird. US hospitals have had the mostly-white-with-pink-and-blue-stripes blankets for many decades.

I like babies in white, for boys and girls.

DD was born by cs. After she had been cleaned, she was wrapped in a pale yellow blanket and passed to me. I left hospital a couple of days later and the principal midwife handed me that blanket so that I could always remember the first smell of my baby. It isn't the colour of the blanket, it is the baby that is wrapped in the blanket.
