Hospital in East Lancs

I saw a TikTok live this morning. A transwoman has had spinal surgery (I think) and the hospital didn't have room for them in the correct medical ward (I'm sorry, the details are sketchy, this was a live I caught).

Where have they moved them? To a private room in a ward for women who are losing their babies. It's a specialist gynaecologist ward.

I am completely shocked. The transwoman was saying they felt it was invalidating for the women and didn't want to be there, this wasn't a case of them muscling in where they weren't wanted. This person said they'd rather be on a prostate ward and it wasn't fair for them to be there. All the conversation was about this so I think this person was trying to raise awareness of what had happened. It seems like its a space issue primarily as there are no other beds in the hospital (in August, god help us in winter!) but this is so incredibly insensitive to the women in that hospital. I'm just agog. This person is in pain and can't physically move to get themselves out of there.

To clarify, this is a ward for women whose babies have been stillborn or who have miscarried.

I am at least incredibly surprised for once at how reasonable this person is. They are extremely unhappy at having been put there. They have a spinal injury.

Are you sure they were moved because of their trans status?
My Dad being treated for sepsis recently had a shocking time in an East Lancs hospital, he has early dementia, usually manages. But they moved him from pillar to post, we didn't know where he was half the time and he ended up utterly confused and distressed. He had various side rooms and was placed on various wards. My teenage daughter had a similiar experience in another hospital, where she was placed in a totally unsuitable ward.

I'd need to see the Instagram post. From afar, this sounds like leveraging male entitlement to not have to deal with female tragedy... all the "lived female experience" just not the terrible ones please... maybe I'm being harsh so yeah, link please.

Er, no sorry I'm not sure at all that's the reason they've been moved. Does it matter why they have been? You have a grown man on a ward of women at their most vulnerable. This individual was saying in their live that they thought it was wrong, they seemed to be trying to publicise what was happening because they thought it was wrong and unfair to the other patients. They aren't to blame but it shouldn't be happening.

Patati - the account is on TikTok not Instagram. There is no post, this was a live. The account is Lancashire.queen (an individual named Shona). I would very much hope they will make a post about the issue so it can be shared, but this was them repeatedly sharing their situation in an unrecorded live.

Well the person is in a private room but they are in the wrong place if they need experienced orthopaedic nurses who can manage spinal patients.

But this is surprising as I have reviewed quite a few hospital policies and regarding ward accommodation they nearly all say something along the lines of "put the person wherever they want and prioritise their wishes at all times".

If it's the same hospital, yes their shitness should be publicised. My Dad says he'd rather be left to die if there's any remote chance of him having to go back to that particular hospital.
I just suspect the trans angle is irrelevant. No male should be on a female gynae ward. Although I have been on one with men in the side rooms, it's not acceptable, but is the current state of the NHS.

Sorry, major quote fail there, was supposed to quote Annaissleeping not myself.

I had spinal surgery and was just in a side room on a random ward, not neuro specialty (I had it done by a neurosurgeon)
I think they just put me where they had space

Don't agree they should have been on that ward though
