All Victoria's pieces are good, but I wanted to share this because it sums up for so many of us how hard it is to trust people again after the way we've been treated:

Why should feminists trust anyone again?

Thank you for sharing RoyalCorgi. It's an excellent article I really relate to.

I read that earlier and she's absolutely right. Who are we supposed to trust now?

GrabbyGabby · 01/08/2023 11:40

Fuck, that is powerful. She articulates so well why i just cant capitulate to gender identity theory. To deny my senses, evidence and common sense to bow to the inner feelings of men i don't know goes against all my self preservation instincts. It feels so very dangerous. If it can be done with something as binary and clear cut as sex, what is next? What else will i be forced to believe?

Toseland · 01/08/2023 16:23

What else will i be forced to believe?
I've not read the article yet but wanted to say that this situation also makes you question what you believe now and have believed in the past - what else have I been conned by?
I'm especially thinking of sexist BBC programmes in the 70's - like if Benny Hill wasn't pushed as being so popular would leery men be so acceptable?

Some of us might feel this way for the rest of our lives. Before we are asked to be kind or conciliatory or forgiving, I want an acknowledgement of everything that has been lost.

Powerful writing, really resonates with me.

The way I have seen certain politicians and professional feminists behave with regard to “the trans issue” is exactly how I think they would behave if you were to approach them as an individual facing abuse from a partner or colleague. They’d not disbelieve you as such, but test the waters, see how high-value you were in relation to your abuser, and they wouldn’t even notice they were doing it. They’re the goodies, after all.

Oof.

Yes, it's been a short sharp shock. Eye opening. But "That which can be destroyed by the truth should be".

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/08/2023 17:03

That's such a sad article - and so right.
In addition to all the misogynists now drunk on the power to abuse women this ideology has bestowed on them, I'm sad to see so many women who I know to be good women, supporting such a terrible cause.
And as for what we're still allowing to happen to children - grief, despair and white hot rage.

She's encapsulated perfectly the loss of trust in those who I once thought were good people, but now???

I’m always blown away by how perceptive Victoria Smith is.

This. She's absolutely spot-on.

So much truth. Many of the women who do speak out have experienced domestic abuse and (from personal experience) feel a huge need to speak the truth to hold on to sanity, because lying for an abuser is no longer an option.

And she sees it even more clearly than I do and articulates it until it’s almost painful.
