Andrew Neil has discovered Detrans kids - he is not happy

"This is heartbreaking. It is barbaric. What have we become?"

Neil listening to Chloe Cole's evidence to Congress:
https://twitter.com/afneil/status/1685029046915063808

It is easy for us to be angry/sad at his ignorance when so many have suffered for telling the truth for years. Remember though Neil was one of the countless millions who either had no idea what is going on or sidelined it as just one of those "feminist" things. Many of us peaked the same way. He gets that he screwed up :

"I understand that. But we allowed it to happen. In my case because I had no idea such things could be done to young, vulnerable people. I feel ashamed and angry. It must be stopped."
https://twitter.com/afneil/status/1685032706139197440

What matters now is what he and others are going to do to put things right:

Gavin Barrie "Andrew Neil peaking is a pretty big deal … because of his connections and his public profile.
There isn’t an influential journalist or editor he doesn’t know personally.
He knows all the TV producers and editorial staff.
He’ll push to haul this into the sunlight."

This will become the biggest medical scandal of the 21st Century…At it’s heart Big Pharma along with unelected groups of Activists such as
@stonewalluk & others in UK 🇬🇧 ! These kids aren’t old enough to smoke, drink or vote yet they’re pushed into surgery & a lifetime of drugs!

Maybe he's been watching and waiting for the tide to turn on the levels of personal abuse people receive for believing in biology?

pickledandpuzzled · 29/07/2023 15:21

Maybe he's been waiting for the moment of maximum impact.

Monty Python had a thorough understanding of this. It's odd that everyone else took such a long time to catch on.

MavisMcMinty · 29/07/2023 15:25

Until I was banned from Twitter and radicalised by MN, I had no interest in the baffling and bewildering trans debate, felt it didn’t affect me, couldn’t understand why JKR’s thoughtful essay was “transphobic” but assumed if the people I mutually followed said it was then it must be.

So I can understand why so many professional rent-a-gobs are/have been completely silent on the trans debate. Those brave articulate women - Forstater, Stock, Joyce, Gaines, Bailey et al - have burst the dam.

I would not underestimate how much the assumption that real abuse in the medical field would not happen in broad daylight can blind people.

I think even if you are reading something like The Spectator every day, if you really think, there must be some good medical thinking behind this or it wouldn't be allowed/so ubiquitous, no one would let people totally experiment on kids with known dangerous drugs, no one would be cutting the breasts off teen girls routinely - it is almost like you are reading a different article.

And for a lot of people that is a sticking point. The idea that could happen seems as absurd, impossible, as the idea that hospitals might openly remove people's eyes to sell to the rich, or conduct weird Frankenstein experiments.

Many also have zero idea about AGP, and the idea seems so alien they can't imagine it.

The media has been making it difficult for people to know this stuff. And again, many people assume, surely if this was going on it would be front and center in the major papers? Even the left leaning ones?

It's why when people peak, it's so fast and hard. But it involves destroying a lot of things people were sure about in terms of public institutions first.

Yes, the medical scandal involving children it's a difficult one for people to truly grasp, I think. They do naïvely have faith in the medical profession.

But Neil definitely knew the ideology was bonkers. When the coop said they were going to withdraw their advertising from the spectator because of their coverage of transgender issues, he famously said go on then, fuck off and also, you'll never advertise with us again because we're not having our content dictated by our advertisers.

He is absolutely familiar with the ideology. It's difficult to believe that he was totally unaware of such a fundamental part of it.

As people are noticing, critical mass has at last been reached. At last.

More people will speak out. But it's the women, all those we are familiar with, Mumsnetters, JKR, KJK, Maya, Helen, Alison, Kathleen, etc, etc, who have written, yelled, tweeted and sobbed to create the mass.

Boomboom22 · 29/07/2023 16:30

Is this it then? It the tide actually turning? I keep hoping so! Streeting and Neil are huge wins surely.

SunnyEgg · 29/07/2023 16:32

Streeting was part of the problem so no kudos here

Neil - Not up to date with his stuff but great

SideWonder · 29/07/2023 16:35

teawamutu · 29/07/2023 11:18

As I've said many times before, usually to men asking where the feminists were on this: just because you weren't fucking listening doesn't mean we weren't fucking speaking.

But, better late than never.

This! It bears repeating.

Boomboom22 · 29/07/2023 16:36

Doesn't matter in fact those are the ones we need the most. Any tra mp we turn is excellent for votes in future. No tribes or ideology just reality.

SunnyEgg · 29/07/2023 16:37

I can’t forget that easily. Others can if they want.

Too much misogyny and bullying

SunnyEgg · 29/07/2023 16:39

Plus it was a non apology and I don’t trust Starmer and Streeting

RoyalCorgi · 29/07/2023 11:13

Andrew Neil is chairman of the Spectator, which has covered this issue for some time. It seems he hasn't been reading the articles in his own publication.

It's exasperating. How can he not have known this is going on?

But better late than never, I guess.

Perhaps he’s just getting round to his 2021 reading list. That’s the year when Helen Joyce’s book was published (and reprinted twice).

LoobiJee · 29/07/2023 17:15

How could you not notice the Hannah Barnes book, for example?

Barnes’ book has had a lot less attention than I was expecting, given that it blows open a medical scandal involving children.

NeedToKnow101 · 29/07/2023 17:21

"Cynically, I suspect he was aware. It's just now that he is certain which way the wind is blowing he can publicly state his views."
This. Although I'd be embarrassed to be an acclaimed journalist and pretend I hadn't known about all of this.

Many also have zero idea about [Three Letter Acronym], and the idea seems so alien they can't imagine it.

And by complete coincidence, those are the issues - along with child safeguarding - that attract the swiftest deletions on here at the behest of the monitors. Accurately describe teen breast amputation surgery as what it is rather than the coy euphemism “top” surgery, and get a deletion. Discuss the Three Letter Acronym which must not be named, get a deletion.

SunnyEgg · 29/07/2023 17:30

It’s not like we’ve been able to use accurate language to describe it

I know it’s not over yet but I’m so pissed at all those who tried to silence.

I have a good and brilliant list in mind and all the rotten, no one is talking about it men guest list too.

If we’re lucky our prize will be women get their stuff back. No one will truly apologise. Pathetic non apologies from craven politicians maybe.

SunnyEgg · 29/07/2023 17:31

Men first list..

rabbitwoman · 29/07/2023 17:46

From @Rudderneck :

'It's why when people peak, it's so fast and hard. But it involves destroying a lot of things people were sure about in terms of public institutions first.'

Wow, so true. No one would ever believe the NHS would actually do this unless there was evidence. Even now, you should hear the nonsense a pal of mine came out with a few weeks ago about prisons....' but there ARE some trans women who cannot go to men' s prisons because they will be MURDERED!!! '

however, I was quite bemused by AN's assertion that he did not know they were doing this to kids. Who doesn't know about JK Rowling? Who doesn't know about Elliot Page or Sam Smith? And he's a journalist??

Well, if he does feel ashamed hopefully he will be instrumental in lifting the lid on some of this. But I think it's more likely that it will all just.... stop. And no one will really know when, or why, just one day it will stop. And then everyone will kind of pretend it never happened.... and that they didn't know......

You know, there are still some people unaware of Rotherham. I know, I have had to inform people about it. I am a teacher. These were other teachers.....

Froodwithatowel · 29/07/2023 17:57

But without women tirelessly banging on and on and on, and writing to everybody and annoying everybody, and ensuring a whole lot of frothing on Twitter and screaming mobs whenever they meet to talk in a park or for an evening at a venue, this never would have happened.

Yes, it's infuriating that it's taken all this time, and that now Men Are Here, the tipping point is finally reached, but MN getting infamous is a huge, huge part of it. The time is coming when Justine's going to be owed All the Gin.

For journalists knocking about who have managed to have their fingers in their ears and their eyes shut, here's an article you may like to read now it's getting popular and edgy rather than dangerous to talk about: https://janeclarejones.com/2018/11/13/the-annals-of-the-terf-wars/

This. ^^ Written almost five years ago.

Lots and lots of verifiable stuff in there, but I'll quote the particularly relevant bit to me at the moment, although nearly five years later, 'women' needs replacing with 'men'

Women: What??? This can’t be right. Surely someone would have said something about this? Where are the feminists? Feminists, is this right?

Feminists: U-huh. We were trying to….

Women: What are the implications of this???

Feminists: montage of charts and essays

three weeks later

Women: Fuck this shit. We need to do something.

Feminists: YES. WE. DO.

The Annals of the TERF-Wars

So, yesterday this turned up in my feed, which struck me as something of an, um, mispresentation… and somehow, I ended up writing my own version of how this whole thing went down… &nbsp…

💪💪💪 I'm a late entrant and am hugely grateful to all those who have been pulling before me. I'm also now pulling as hard as I can, as are many others who have joined since that was written 💪💪💪

@Froodwithatowel thank you for posting that article. A great read.

I reckon that he has noticed this for some time... but has been doing research, getting clued up and prepared for onslaught of when he publically names the beast. JK Roing mentioned it in her podcast.... once she had personally peaked... she had to do the research and prepare herself before she went public. It's a big dragon to face.

GoatsareGOAT · 29/07/2023 21:45

Fan-fucking-tastic

Absolute bollocks that he didn't know what was going on but presumably a few women losing races to men/a few rotten apple transwo-men attacking women didn't set his alarms off 🙄
OTOH children being harmed did so at least there's that

He's an excellent win keep them coming 👏👏👏

Hepwo · 29/07/2023 23:04

This is all very confusing, conservatives only care about the economy, people will vote labour because they are going to be better at the economy, conservative journalist in charge of conservative media writes about the economy.

Labour media won't write about gender , labour voters won't be persuaded by this issue.

It's the economy stupid.

Economist conservative is very honest and direct about the shame and shock.

Labour have rearranged a few words.

Back to;
No-one cares because of the economy.
the Tories still hate women, labour will be better with the economy.

Make it make sense!
