''The release of Leicestershire double child killer Colin Pitchfork has been halted after a judge ordered that a decision to free him should be reviewed. The Parole Board said last month that the 63-year-old - who was given a minimum of 30 years behind bars in 1988 for raping and strangling 15-year-olds Lynda Mann and Dawn Ashworth - no longer posed a threat to the public.
But the decision was criticised by the victims' families and South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa, who wrote to Justice Secretary Alex Chalk seeking an "immediate and urgent review". Now, a judge has ordered a reconsideration of the decision to release the killer after branding it "irrational". A new, three-member parole panel will now be selected to consider the case again.''
