So is this person a woman? In which case surely it's a complete non story. Or are they a man? And why does the article not make it clear?

'Historic' - the World Cup's first out trans player

There is much discussion to be found about transgender athletes in sport. In Australia and New Zealand, one has been helping drive their country's bid for World Cup glory.

I posted about this on the general thread. Certainly the article doesn't make it clear whether the person is a man or a woman (and as noted, if a woman, then it's rather a non-story anyway). But am I reading too much into it to say that it seems almost deliberate to avoid coming out and saying, yes this is a woman? But rather the tone is, this person is enbee, it seems rude and intrusive to pursue it any further?

Quinn has been playing for a while.

Interesting that the NB person, born a woman is happy to be the flag waver for trans, whereas those born male are staying quiet.

Earlier this year DD played against a born-male person in a University match. She came home battered and bruised, and indeed never played again. Apparently the person was not much good so used their strength and build to batter through the other team's defence. At least, unlike the 18 year olds on the others team, she did not have to share a changing room with a man in their 30s.

I wonder if the TRAs are wondering why GC women ARE NOT up in arms about this... 🤔

Why should they be?

There is never an objection to women playing against women. As there would be no objection to a transwomen playing for a men's team. Trans people are not excluded from sport.

yes, that's my point

Since when would you make a headline calling a non-binary person "transgender"? Quinn is female. With a special gender identity. Complete non-story.

imed · 26/07/2023 13:23

Could someone please explain to me how you can come out as transgender and non-binary?

imed · 26/07/2023 13:24

Her wiki page states exactly that...
