I wanted to share this article with you all.

I think she shows that women just cannot win. I found it very sad that one of her main worries going into labour was that someone at the hospital would tell her off. I found it very sad because I understood it. When I had DC3, I was afraid of advocating for myself post birth because I thought that they might not help me if I didn't slavishly obey and accept the contempt and disbelief thrown at me.

Thank you for sharing that. My third birth was awful, and I suspect, in part, it was because I didn’t feel able to tell them what I wanted and in part, because they had to follow rules that were probably created to stop men intervening inappropriately to carry out unnecessary vaginal examinations.

Too much interference, followed by too little after they’d created a problem has indeed led to my child having to live with the consequences. Fortunately nowhere near as severe as those Victoria Smith’s brother suffered but, I suspect, avoidable nonetheless.

Women should be involved and not afraid to express themselves.
