Their head of communications chumming up with Nancy Kelly

How independent can they be?

What I’m finding incredible is the turn on Twitter. Whereas 3 years ago you could not have said anything on Twitter except yeahhh or yippee, the ratio that these statements put out by various organisations are getting is enormous.

For those not on Twitter

'Independent' is now one of those upside down words, like inclusive, that has come to mean its exact opposite.

Yes! Well put!

Thelnebriati · 06/07/2023 13:33

I wonder if this will end up being another 'this never happens' accountability thread?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 06/07/2023 16:54

There's a question I ask myself sometimes. I asked it a lot during the pandemic, and it crops up now and then, especially when I read something like this - and it's 'how do so many bloody stupid people manage to get into positions of power?'

MowingTheTerf · 06/07/2023 17:03

But this just sums up the whole movement, it's virtue signalling.

The police in general are very homophobic, just look at their reluctance to deal with the Barking murders.

But as long as publicly they put out Pride statements etc, it lets the actual officers off of their homophobic behaviour.

Yeah, me too - anyone with an ounce of intelligence would not post that tweet.

Sometimes I think you almost have to be stupid to do this sort of job, though. Stupidity enables you to ignore most of the problems that are brought to your door, perhaps, and simultaneously believe you're doing some good. I find it astonishing these people can stand up and claim to be 'independent' and working in the public's interest with a straight face.

RealityFan · 06/07/2023 17:11

Never has the re-labelling from Police FORCE to Police SERVICE been so aptly demonstrated.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 06/07/2023 17:13

It reminds me of what a teacher used to say to us years ago - 'Common sense is not that common.'

Neither, it appears, is the ability to think.

That's like saying - 'nurses generally hate children & babies - look at Beverly Allitt and Lucy Letby'

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 07/07/2023 01:34

Excuse me, why are you putting Lucy Letby in the same bracket [guilty] as Beverley Allitt? The Letby trial is still live, yet you are imputing guilt. I don't think anyone should be stating what they think the trial result should be.

Felix125 · 07/07/2023 02:20

I never said she was guilty.

It is not really a 'turn'. What existed previously on Twitter as on other social media platforms was an extensive censorship and moderation effort to create a false consensus. Musk, hate him as much as you will, put a stop to that. Of course the self-proclaimed 'decent, right-thinking" types will shriek that the brainwashed RW populist hordes have invaded Twitter ...but what else do they have?

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 07/07/2023 05:40

Felix you did not say Lucy Letby is guilty but you placed her in the same space as Beverly Allitt, in an attempt to form an association or link. I would like all the lurkers to note how you twist matters, and this is one more example.

Felix125 · 07/07/2023 14:44

But is it okay to say that "...the police in general are very homophobic..."?

Presumably then you would be okay for Lucy Letby to carry on working as a nurse - since she is not guilty of anything.

Hmm. On another thread you kept telling us that we didn't know anything and shouldn't jump to conclusions. We don't know if Lucy Letby is guilty.

Inconsistent much?

Felix125 · 09/07/2023 07:51

Precisely - but I never said she was guilty.

However it seems fine to say that "...The police in general are very homophobic..."

If you're happy to say that Lucy Letby has not been found guilty in court, therefore she is innocent. Fine - are we okay to bring back Jimmy Saville to our screens with re-runs?

The low conviction rate for certain offences, often as low as 2%, must mean that 98% are innocent as they have not been found guilty.

Would you be okay for Lucy Letby to return to work whilst the trial continues? After all she is currently innocent?

If you like - I could draw a comparison with teachers then:
"The police in general are very homophobic"
"Teachers in general are sexual predators" (Aimee Jones & Shannon Parsons etc)
Would that be better for you?

Whatwouldscullydo · 09/07/2023 08:37

What happened to " without fear or favour "
Police like drs etc are meant to serve their WHOLE community. Regardless of whether they have views they disagree with or whatever. People are allowed to hold views. They arent allowed to abuse people because of them but thats where the police step in. Police are allowed to hold those views aswell. Just not allowed to treat people badly because of them. All these outward displays of " inclusivity" mean nothing. If police want to improve relationships and reputations with various demographics then how about they stick to their own rules about how people can be treated during arrest/holding. Improve arrest and conviction rates for rape and sexual assaults. Oh and perhaps join the rest of us in the fight against providing male sex offenders with an all you can eat buffet in women's prisons..

Always the easy option..let's make a tweet and cosy up with stonewall...

nettie434 · 09/07/2023 09:25

However it seems fine to say that "...The police in general are very homophobic..."

That was one of the conclusions from the Casey review of the Metropolitan Police. Last year, the organisers of London Pride asked police officers not to march in uniform because LBGT+ campaigners were concerned about 'institutional homophobia'.

Chersfrozenface · 09/07/2023 10:08

The Casey review also found that the Met are no institutionally misogynistic.

In my area, Gwent Police snd South Wales Police have been found to be profoundly misogynistic.

The government and the Criminal Justice Inspectorates recognise that misogyny is a widespread problem within the police.

All of which is, of course, entirely consistent with cozying up to the misogynistic Stonewall.

Chersfrozenface · 09/07/2023 10:31

That should read "the Met are institutionally misogynistic"

I don't know where the 'no' came from.
