Well yes, obviously. Because you have to accept as axiomatic a thing that does not stand up to even the slightest critical thought.
Or to be slightly more charitable, you can be very very clever...and still run into problems because you are still not as clever as you think you are.
I work with very very clever people and the big traps for them are arrogance, confirmation bias and the need to be the cleverest person in the room making them overthink and overcomplicate things.
IMO the cleverer you are, the more important it is to seek out people, viewpoints and information that might contradict your own conclusions. You have to keep on refining your thoughts and always be prepared to be proven wrong.
Ironically, the only way to make sure your conclusions are rock solid is to be prepared to change them.
