The Chief Constable of Scotland has said that the force in 'institutionally racist' and is guilty of sexism, misogyny, and homophobia too.

I have specially hunted for a non Guardian/BBC link for those of you who don't want to have to use them! 😀

It reminded me of the way that those forces that have targeted women and some men like Graham Linehan are so reluctant to tackle other discrimination in their own ranks. It gives the lie to those who claim they take an intersectional approach and suggests that organisations constantly acting on transphobia but ignoring other types of discrimination are almost like a canary in the coal mine, warning us that they may have serious other problems not even under the surface but in plain sight.

When are they going to admit they're institutionally misogynist as well?

Mochudubh · 25/05/2023 15:23

Ah, I see they did, sort of.

“However, it is right for me, the right thing for me to do as chief constable, to clearly state that institutional racism, sexism, misogyny and discrimination exist. Police Scotland is institutionally racist and discriminatory.

TheBiologyStupid · 25/05/2023 19:53

I notice that the admissions of being sexist and misogynist never make the headlines in the reports on this news story. I suspect that the Scottish officers know which women to oppress and which "women" to support...

This is what it reminds me of (Book of Common Prayer 1552)

HAVE mercy upon me, (O God,) alter thy great goodness : accordyng to the multitude of thy mercies, do awaye myne offences.
Wash me throughly from my wickednes, and dense me from my sinne.
For I knowledge my faultes, and my synne is ever before me.
Againste thee onely have I synned, and done this evil in thy syght : that thou mightest be justified in thy saying, and cleare when thou art judged.
Beholde I was shapen in wickednesse, and in synne hath my mother conceived me.
But lo, thou requirest trueth in the inwarde parties, and shalt make me to understande wisdome secretly.
Thou shalt purge me with Isope, and I shalbe cleane : thou shalte washe me, and I shalbe whiter then Snowe.
Thou shalt make me heare of joye and gladnesse, that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoyce.
Turne thy face from my synnes, and put out all my misdedes. Make me a cleane heart, (O God) and renewe a right spirite within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy holy spirite from me.
O geve me the comforte of thy helpe agayne, and stablishe me with thy free spirite.
Then shal I teache thy wayes unto the wycked, and synners shalbe converted unto thee.
Deliver me from bloud-guyltinesse, (O god,) thou that art the god of my health : and my tongue shal sing of thy ryghteousnes.
Thou shalt open my lippes, (O lord) and my mouth shall shewe thy prayse.

Don't forget some lines will need updating, Shelefttheweb.
'HAVE mercy upon me, (O God,) alter thy great goodness : accordyng to the multitude of thy mercies, do awaye myne offences if I have offended you and been caught out'

Agree TheBiologyStupid and Mochudubh, misogyny is completely under emphasised.

They have taken this bit to heart:

Then shal I teache thy wayes unto the transphobes
