Thank you PB. Off to have a read of the document now.

Just giving this a bit of a bump.

I was initially pleased to see that the potential clients were named as 'children and young people experiencing gender incongruence and dysphoria' rather than trans children. But then it ends with 'In this way the ambition of the NHS for gender identity care can be realised.' So these children do definitely have a gender identity then? I just don't think you can think critically about the treatment needed if you believe this to be true.

Cautiously pleased to see the repetition of high quality, evidence-based care though out the document. The establishment of a Research Oversight Board chaired by a senior professor of Psychiatry and including numerous well qualified researchers (& Hilary Cass) who presumably can spot the type of dodgy research so beloved by transactivists that tainted GIDs for so long.

The devil is in the detail and we know that the adult transactivist groups will not give up their routes for recruiting children to the cause easily. But given the appalling outcomes for so many and the extreme levels of social contagion amongst mentally unwell young people, I'm cautiously optimistic that this will finally be managed professionally & these children will get the holistic mental health care that's been denied to them for so long. Just hope that I'm not being naive given how captured the NHS is.

Pleased as well to see 'Determining the standardised information to be collected by children and young people’s gender services to audit against agreed standards, monitor outcomes, support research, learn more about the epidemiology of the patient population, and help inform both current and future assessment and care.'

Cautious thumbs up.

It does feel positive doesn't it. I wonder if there will be a way to find out what the approach these new hubs will take and what the actual pathway will be look like for service users. They say an emphasis on metal health.

Also whee will the staff come from? Tavistock?

Cass was very clear that co morbidities MUST be treated and the locating of this clearly in paediatric medicine is positive. Not much time for gender woowoo when you're focused on high quality medical care, saving lives and mending children's ill or damaged bodies.
The challenge will be to find staff who are child centred, skilled practitioners rather than transactivists. I suspect that the dysfunctional state of GIDS along with the toxic influence of the lobby groups makes this a rather grim prospect for potential candidates. The current wild west experimental approach must also bring concerns for your future in terms of litigation and we know the lawyers are circling world wide. That's a worry.
