This whole thread, and the responses, are interesting.

Some people are very insistent that patients should be forced to accept treatment from practitioners who are of the opposite sex that they've requested, when a patient has requested same-sex care.

Curious.

Having skimmed that thread, some people seem to be quite, um, delighted at either that prospect, or that Bad Women will end up not getting care.

Yep.

'If the default here is to refuse to provide single sex care and let these women self exclude, then that is not a compassionate attempt to respect the rights of all people involved. It’s an attempt to punish and shame a woman for asking for same sex intimate care.'

Presumably you can ask people to make the request at reception, not ask any particular doctor, "you're not trans are you?".

That's not 100% going to protect privacy of practitioners in all circumstances perhaps, but should normally protect it.

But most people will believe that if they say that they request same sex care/treatment, that this is what they will receive, unless told thats not possible. They will not expect a trans person of the opposite sex to be provided.

He laid it out very clearly. Also an excellent put down of Katy Montgomery's non-sensical comment.

Every NHS employee has a duty to respect a wish for same-sex intimate care.

Regardless of their gender identity belief, every trans person knows their own biological sex. Even India Willoughby, no matter what India says. Only a very unkind trans person would put themselves forward for the intimate care of someone of the opposite sex by stating that they identified as that sex. It's entirely unnecessary to be that unkind. I can imagine no scenario where care needs to be refused because someone of the requested sex is unavailable, leaving only trans identifying people to step forward.

Everyone has an opportunity to respect everyone else's dignity here: the patient and any trans identifying staff. It is very much not the right moment for an assertion of gender identity.

The punishment of females - either by forcing them to endure against their consent or by denying health care - seems to be the main goal of all this.

Any HCP of any sex who cares more about their right to intimately handle a patient than about their patient's needs and access to health care, has a serious problem between their ears and is not fit to be in a position of responsibility.

Many of these men are now claiming they're actually female, and people are going along with this bullshit. One would hope that medical professionals wouldn't be taken in by such lies, but then again what's one more lie to swallow from this toxic ideology if you've already consumed the rest.
