I like her comment along the lines of “I probably should be considered non-binary”. Perhaps that’s what we should all say. Take claim of the term “non-binary” and take the wind out of the sails of the T movement.
(I tried recently when a DC told me a friend is “non-binary”. I replied “oh, you mean like me?” Pause. Quizzical look. So I continued “you know… sometimes I wear a dress, sometimes I enjoy arranging baking cakes, sometimes I wear trousers or power suits, sometimes I am a tough negotiator, etc. Is your friend like me?”. DC mumbled “I think the term means something different”….
But I will persist. If we all claim to be in-restricted by stereotypical ideas of gender, then we can all be non-binary and those who are currently experimenting with the label will realise it isn’t really very special.
