😍

BlackRookInRainyWeather · 12/05/2023 16:38

She did well. The more of these public apologies, the better.

ArabeIIaScott · 12/05/2023 16:39

Friday, innit. Happy weekend, all! Gin

FigRollsAlly · 12/05/2023 16:49

Excellent news!

lifeturnsonadime · 12/05/2023 16:53

It's brilliant. An unequivocal acceptance that they discriminated against her.

All of those nay sayers are WRONG .

Rainbowshit · 12/05/2023 16:56

I would dearly love to know who have them the initial incorrect legal advice.

They're still lying, aren't they? "We've always been clear we oppose all forms of discrimination" is demonstrably untrue.

Well done to them for finally working out that hating women doesn't always pay.

RoyalCorgi · 12/05/2023 17:09

It was always going to happen - it was a completely clear-cut case of illegal discrimination. Whoever they took their legal advice from ahead of the original decision wasn't up to much and should probably be sacked.

Still, it's immensely satisfying to see such a plain and forthright apology and retraction, unlike the sour grapes statement from Jo Grady earlier this week about the Paul Embery libel.

maltravers · 12/05/2023 17:19

Bravo Joanna Cherry, hopefully this will make people think a bit about both sides of the argument and not just blindly assume people like JC are nasty old bigots.

AutumnCrow · 12/05/2023 17:29

Jo Cherry shows what the law IS, as opposed to what some types would like the law to be.

HappyMaltesers · 12/05/2023 17:30

I'd be surprised if they'd actually taken legal advice in the first place... it seems more likely that the first legal advice came after Joanna Cherry sent her letter, and the stand's management just don't want to admit to being stupid.

PronounssheRa · 12/05/2023 17:31

Idiots. I could have told them for free that they were discriminating.

SallyLockheart · 12/05/2023 17:36

brilliant.- well done, Joanna

Jo Grady's letter was a disgrace. Really showed her up for who she is.

I'm trying to find out who gave the poor legal advice. Hopefully Edinburgh legal gossips will dish the dirt....

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/05/2023 17:46

Great start to the weekend !

LizzieSiddal · 12/05/2023 18:52

I hope Universities and other businesses are listening very, very carefully so other GC women do not have to go through this nonsense!

raspberrywine · 12/05/2023 19:00

Hahaha.

Fantastic news. Cheered me right up. Hopefully will make other venues/event management take notice. Eventbrite, anyone?

SquirrelSoShiny · 12/05/2023 19:04

I may have cheered a little at this news!
