And they don't want to share their teaching materials with parents??

Not a situation that should be allowed.

I was just reading another article about this lot and the info that is coming out in the tribunal:

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/ebed56e8-e9ea-11ed-bf4a-7aba37244b0f?shareToken=dc42f2bac8124675bd9b10d03ee331122_

An organisation that provides sex education lessons in schools has apologised for posting links on its website to “regrettable” material about fetishes, sex toys and introductory guides to “quick, rough, anonymous sex”.

Why are these people in schools? Why are schools paying for our children to be educated in queer theory?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 05/05/2023 14:33

The SSE seem to have actively recruited people who like talking about sex and pushing boundaries rather than people who want to protect children and equip them to be safe and happy

bit of a way to miss the point of sex and relationships education I’d have said

I'm surprised that they are reporting on this already as the tribunal is still ongoing. Closing arguments next week and goodness knows how long before judgement.

They absolutely are allowed to report on evidence presented in court cases and it is pretty standard practise to do so. They just have to be careful not to speculate and provide accurate reporting. Just look at the following of trials such as Rooney, Prince Harry’s one against The Mail, or American court cases. I am not sure why you are surprised?

TheBiologyStupid · 05/05/2023 15:56

I think the only thing that the SSE "regrets" is being found out.

And a deep dive into the hard drives of every adult wanting to talk to children in schools in secret from their parents.

100%. Ask fucking questions! Those whose job it is to protect children, to care for children, what the FUCK are you doing?

MargotBamborough · 05/05/2023 20:12

I'd like to know more about what they were actually teaching the children. The bit that got repeated several times in the article was about virginity being a damaging social construct, which I actually kind of agree with. The group sounds as shady as fuck though. Why can't the teachers just teach sex ed?

ControversialOpening · 05/05/2023 20:27

Why can't the teachers just teach sex ed?

Teachers are specialists in their subjects. They spend years becoming knowledgeable in their fields, but feel unqualified to teach sex-ed.

I'm sure biology teachers feel qualified to teach the functional parts, but no better informed than anyone else to teach about relationships, consent, sexuality, etc.
When I taught we were basically given a few lesson plans at the beginning of each term and left to pass it on to our tutor groups. Some teachers hated it, most thought it was a distraction from their actual jobs, some didn’t mind too much if they had a good relationship with their group.

I’d guess that most secondary schools would be big enough now to employ a specialist sex-ed teacher or two, but would anyone really want that job? And what sort of person might apply for a position like that?

Clymene · 05/05/2023 20:35

I looked up everyone involved in this company. There is one doctor who works for them who is a an obgyn. Every other person has no background in medicine, education, psychology or any other relevant skill.

They are not qualified to teach children and it's appalling that schools are paying them. They turned over £220k in the first 6 months of 2022.

Our taxes are paying for a bunch of queer theorists to teach our teenagers that anal sex and one night stands are brilliant.

PurpleBugz · 05/05/2023 20:46

Hmmmm 🤔
Virginity is a harmful social construct?
I shall refrain from commenting on how gender is fact not a social construct
