Genuinely can't see how I can vote at all....

Conservative.

I cannot even fathom people voting for a party who refuse to acknowledge what a woman is.

senua · 04/05/2023 21:30

I wrote on the paper what I thought of Labour and Greens policies re women. Probably nobody will read it but it made me feel better.

I go to the polling station because its my moral duty but it's a bit pointless because we are a very safe seat.

Conservative. They live and work in the community, are extremely proactive on local issues and are visible and approachable year-round.
Our Labour candidates only turn up a couple of weeks before the election, do a mass leaflet drop and then disappear back into obscurity again.
Haven’t even heard from the other candidates.

You do realise the new law essentially stops anyone protesting. You can't even link arms without it being considered disruptive.

You can still link arms so long as it doesn't inconvenience anyone and isn't too noisy. 😑

I'd rather have a government that allows me to disagree with them and make no bones about showing it.

For those voting for a party because they supposedly 'know what a women is' I'd ask who has been in power since the question has become an increasing threat to women's rights?

I'm for the first time voting for an Independent candidate who has promised to make fixing potholes his priority. We have so many potholes that have appeared in the last 12 months.

First time not bothering, such a shame. Been voting Labour all my life. But they don’t know what I am, so it’s pointless.

Always surprises me when people say something like this because ‘everyone they know’ is voting Tory.

68 million people in the UK.

When people can’t afford to their families or can’t get a GP apt if they’re ill, peoples priorities will be different.

You must live in an echo chamber. I couldn't name a single person who has voted conservative.

Capitulatingpanda · 05/05/2023 09:58

I feel quite lucky that none of the big political parties ever get a look in at local elections. None of them have ever won a borough council election here. They don't even bother leafleting.

Locally I vote based on what I feel is the best party / person to deal with local issues. Plus in my area a conservative vote is a wasted vote.

The Labour mayoral candidate won, this is somewhat an unexpected outcome, but shows people are (locally at least) swinging back to Labour.

RinklyRomaine · 05/05/2023 11:46

I spoilt my ballot as I have done every election for the last few years. Drew a cock and balls and wrote "don't expect my X if you don't respect my sex". Told the Labour and Lib Dem candidates loudly, and why, as they were loitering outside. It's not an easy thing to do but I know they are seen, I'm in a safe Labour area, and I cannot vote for her as she scoffs at my every email about women's rights. She's a woman of Asian extraction, just off maternity leave, representing a very ethnically diverse constituency and replaced a counsellor suspended for being unable to keep his hands out female staffers skirts, but won't stop chanting twaw. Nope.

NotHavingIt · 05/05/2023 11:51

I voted for the Lib Dem candidate, not because I'd ever vote for then in a general election, but because they are the best chance of reducing the power of the totally incompetent, corrupted Labour group in my city; who even Labour voters can't stomach.

Do you honestly think Conservatives care about women or are they just telling you what you want to hear?
