Woman's sexually abusive dad released from jail using a woman's name (TW: CSA)

I couldn't see another thread on this. This poor woman was sexually abused for 9 years from the age of 8 by her dad and her victim support officer has told her he's being released and now using the name Claire Fox and she has only been told this because he said it was ok. Basically if he had vetoed it, she wouldn't know what name he is using.

She is on Twitter: Since day one I have had nothing but ‘my fathers’ human rights shoved down my throat. It’s his right to come back to his community. It’s his right to change his name and gender, and not have to tell you. It’s his right to apply to get himself taken off the sex offenders register.

It's just heaping abuse onto abuse.

I agree with her that her father seems to be less than trustworthy.

safeguarding (edbs) you can opt out of is not functioning as intended. people convicted of abusing children and sharing images of child sex abuse (and similar crimes) should be prevented from working in schools (or with children more generally). Relying on someone convicted of csa to mention it in the application form is the same level of effectiveness as relying on them not applying for the job in the first place.

I think October 2022, the commissioner made a statement on this type of prisoner.

The UN has had some strange advice also.

How can someone have the right to get themselves taken off the sexual offenders' list? Or even apply to do that?
Might as well just give them the key when they lock them up in jail.

No-one has the right to take themselves off it.

Everyone has the right to apply for their name to be removed if they have been on the register for over 15 years (8 years in the case of a juvenile offender) and if there is not a prevention order in place.

In order for an appeal to be successful assessments must be carried out by the police and conditions met.
