I have been happy to be re-educated today on the 'It Gets Better' TikTok account (238.3k followers, 162k views of the video) about what it means to be a lesbian.

One of the women behind Couplagoofs (two autistic women in a relationship) talks about how it's a misconception that lesbian = a woman who loves other women.

No! The definition is 'non-men who are attracted to and love other non-men.'

She warns against the women who gatekeep the identity and says there are in fact a zillion different ways to be a lesbian.

So that's me told and I wanted to spread the gospel further. I'm sure none of us non-men on this board would want to be behind the times.

I am so sickened that so many people swallow this ideology whole 😔

Nah. In reality this is like 'daddio' and 'cool cats' and other bits of niche slang from a youth fad. It never impinges on actual reality of most people who will just carry on oblivious and don't really care about being 'squares' or whatever term of abuse is slung at them for not being part of the incrowd. And it'll date horribly.

I suppose too that's the answer to the whole snotty, superior 'language has evolved you old past it git who should be dead' bit of kindness and inclusiveness with a totally normal social capacity for respecting other people and things not directly all about you.

The word 'daddy' did not evolve into 'daddio' <add leather jacket and bad haircut> it just developed a short niche side road for a particular fad of a time.

I may joke about identifying as straight - and theres some truth in it because it's a short cut out of being bored to death by some superior righteous type wanting to do the whole 'have you been gender saved from hell and accepted LoJ as your saviour' speech at me. But in actual fact I have no interest or care for any amount of wittering about who thinks what about what I can do with my body and with whom and on what terms, and what they order to me that I shall mean by lesbianism. Because ffs. I don't have time for twats like that. And I'll go on being homosexually female anyway.

It's a fucking insult to women, for sure.
Not even 'the second sex', ffs.
