https://safeschoolsallianceuk.net/2020/06/18/love-has-no-age-a-letter-to-asda/

So my child , year 11 is about to have these in a school assembly, parents only just been informed.

I've written to the school explaining I don't think the messages they are giving are appropriate and ive asked if due diligence been completed .

I've asked for a representative from the school to call me tomorrow.

I feel so emotional about this , I'm afraid my message may get misunderstood in my emotions.

Can someone please help me explain to the teacher why I am so against this without being accused of bigotry as I'm really worried that's what I'll be labelled as
I have NO issues with her class ( Yr 11) being talked to about sexuality, but I'm fearful this company talk more about trans issues and being born in the wrong body and sexist sterotypes.

Any suggestions guys , be kind please

Love has no age: a letter to Asda about their home learning packs

Why is Asda telling children that love has no age? We were shocked when Asda customers contacted us about this slogan, also used by paedophiles

Just bumping this, I hope someone wiser than me notices it.

Perhaps the first thing to do is request access to the materials. All schools have to allow this now, following the letter from the government.

Unfortunately it might be under copyright, so you may need to go in to school. If that was the case, personally I would personally approach it as follows:

  1. book a day off work (please ignore if that doesn't apply to you or isn't feasible)
  2. arrange to spend as long as they will give you reviewing the materials. It needs to be a meaningful amount of time to review everything.
  3. pre-arrange a meeting slot with the Head to discuss your feedback. If you have no concerns (sounds unlikely) this will be a short meeting
  4. send any concerns in writing afterwards as follow-up
  5. depending on the nature of your concerns, ask the school to delay delivery of the lessons until they are addressed
  6. depending on the nature of your concerns, send a copy of the written feedback to your MP

Thankfully, Sex Matters, School Alliance and Transgender Trend have done lots of analysis so that's a head start on what to look out for.

It would be interesting to test out what the government means when it says parents should have access to materials. I presume the intention would then be for action to be taken of some kind if a parent had concerns.

On point 1, I'd never normally advocate throwing a sickie but if working and annual leave isn't doable it's always an option...
