I'm on a gender free Facebook group, which is meant to be 'stereotypes=bad. Colours and toys are for everyone. Most posts are along the line of being critical of stereotypes or celebrating non conformity. So far so good.

Anyway, was scrolling and saw a post of a boy (described as such.in post) who wore a blue dress to nursery or school. A very young boy anyway.
Was I naive to be surprised by the first post which said their child was trans and they were going to show them.said inspirational boy so.they can celebrate who they are or.some.such bollocks (male child in dress in photo)
Was I even more naive to be shocked by the comments that followed all being 'you go girl' 'living best life' and not 'erm, stereotypes are against the rules here numbnuts.

I guess what I am asking is are people that stupid, or is it that only the stupid ones post?

Obviously I didn't post stop telling your child that outdated stereotypes mean they're the opposite sex, but I wanted to. I'm pretty cautious about what I put on the internet though. Just surprised no one in that massive group commented that child is the embodiment of buying into stereotypes.

Honestly, have seen this level of disconnect and stupidity from a few friends as well, can people really be that dumb!?!

I always thought i was more important to focus on things that help develop their personality instead of just toys or clothing.
eg showing little boys crying is ok

I don't think you have to do one or the other to be fair.
But I do think if you allow toy and colour coding by gender, behaviour and hobbies naturally follow on from that.
Toy types are particularly important anyway as certain toy types develop different parts of the brain. Dolls, for example the social skills and Lego engineering. And as toys tend to be colour coded it's important to instill colours are for everyone, or you'll end up limiting them.

Anyway, just surprised people who aren't into stereotypes were so shortsighted.
