I think people should remain anonymous until a verdict has been found but it outrageous this police officer is allowed to continue working. He should be suspended on full pay imo.

The problem with sexual offences is that it typically takes about 30 women before anyone takes it seriously. Worse than Sharia law. If you keep anonymity, no one else is empowered to come forward.

Sexual offences really are very different to other offences.

I hear what you are saying but I do not agree.

Name and shame post conviction. This would encourage genuine victims to come forward too.

Brefugee · 01/04/2023 18:50

but they don't get convicted unless a billion women come forward and say "me too" and they can't know to do that if the name isn't released.

So yeah. They'll continue to get away with it.

He should have been suspended. It is outrageous that his life is altered in no way at all

There's no right answer really.

Post-conviction works for the tiny tiny minority of men who have already faced justice. Not the vast majority who never will.

If I trusted the police, and clearly there's no way anyone sane would at the moment, they could keep a database of accusations. But since it would be them, not really practical.

oh don't. Policesplainer will be along to tell us that they can't join the dots because that would be pre-judging or something.

It's OK. I didn't say his name three times in a mirror. Grin

Brefugee · 01/04/2023 19:23

yeah - well just make sure you don't!
