Mary Harrington writing about KJK in Unherd. Interesting points and analogies, as usual.

What Posie Parker learnt from Brexit

Every campaign needs its shock troops

@FOJN absolutely!

I’ve been listening to Matthew Goodwin on
populism and the monstering of the working classes since 2016 Trump/Brexit and while he has mentioned Women’s rights and the GenderBorg before it’s always been a fairly brief mention in passing kinda like a hot potato he wanted to drop asap (he does work at a university, so who can blame him!)

it’s interesting how his most recent interviews have become decidedly more forthright on the issue, to the point that I find myself wondering if he’s had a personal peakening via his kids’ schools or something (I don’t even know if he has any kids btw!)

I’ve also appreciated Paul Embery’s podcast appearances for discussion of these topics (trade unionist and ‘Blue Labour’)

I appreciate his perspective because he's a political scientist so he has the data. Sadly, as he points out, the new radical progressives are anti scientific and give primacy to 'lived experience' when thinking about policy.

The new left is a homogenously sealed, herd mentality-minded and purity spiral-motivated self-fulfilling prophesy. I'm talking the likes of Jeremy Corbyn and his Momentum pals like Sam Tarry, the Tankies, and the New Feminists, Angela Rayner, Lisa Nandy, Dawn Butler, and those with trans children all the way thru the Labour movement, Yvette Cooper and Stephen Kinnock the most prominent examples.
It's a self-regulating organism, believing in the trans child, TWAW, and anyone not on board is either uneducated or somehow tainted.
Somehow Starmer needs to navigate this impossible terrain, and that's assuming he's at the very least sane, with at least some TRA skeptical attitudes.
However herd mentality thru the whole left and institutions and BBC in this nation means he's losing this battle, if he ever had any fight in him to start.
For the many of women on the left, especially new graduate class, they're on board with the narrative, and view JKR, Posie and Rosie as poison, Ingala Smith undeserving of Labour membership, and critically Posie as on the same moral compass as Trump, Farage and Tommy Robinson.
For those women on the left into class based analysis of society, but aware that the intersectional analysis of society is a dead end, most highlighted by TWAW, they have a choice to make.
Like poor old Rosie Duffield, they may feel they can "change" the Labour Party and reset the narrative (hmm, like the husband who's abusive and promises it'll be better in the morning), these GC left feminists are so being left behind.
It's they who have to make some hard choices, we're on board with the need for urgency, just not purity of messenger or tactics.

If Actual Gender Critical Left want to speak solely to an audience of already gender critical leftwing women, surely they are just talking to each other? Nothing is going to get better for women if you only ever preach to your own, carefully pre-vetted choir.

What about the people that simply don't get KJK? The message doesn't resonate, or it's just too far from their usual political position? They dismiss it as right wing transphobia. I am NOT saying that is what it is, but that is how some people perceive it.

They see the Nazis and the Pink News headlines and write KJK off.

These people are left with Keir doesn't know what a cervix is Starmer or the completely captured Greens. Then along comes a carefully considered article from a left wing GC feminist and the message gets through to them.

They think ALL terves are right wing tho! Look at what happened to Doc Stock!

Most of those people will eventually be peaked by the GenderBorg itself. By detransitioners or men breaking the skulls of elderly women, or by being confronted by a man in what they thought was a female only space, y’know, like a Rape Crisis centre.

They just need somewhere soft to land when the peakening happens, and the cushioned landing will now be their mums and their grandmas, their aunties, their sisters, their female friends, all of whom listened to KJK.

It won’t be a dwindling bunch of purity spiralled Real Feminists in a conference hall.

But all the left wing GC feminists are writing for right wing publications so THAT ship sailed about 4 years ago.

I have recently found out my sister is a massive KJK fan so I see what you mean.

I recently got a text off my sister mentioning something I'd said on a mumsnet thread.

She'd gone to check on the timing for something KJK related to find us lot posting about cheese and worshipping datun! We hadn't really discussed KJK that much with each other until then!

RealityFan · 29/03/2023 21:52

All that matters now is that the Conservative Party crystallise their evolving GC positioning, and the Labour Party are forced to confront mutually inconsistent positions of the most basic refusal not to go Self ID with all the usual leftist #BeKind #NoBullying claptrap.
That means more and more public exposure of the TRA cult...Sunday was a Red Letter Day in that respect, the SNP to continue its clown car routine with Humza pushing on, doubling down on Self ID, relentless pressure on Labour as the irresistible tide of reality dawns on Starmer.
I really see Posie's events pushing the momentum on, with the heft and intellect of the others in print and online, and Queen JKR always contributing.
The anti-Posie fraternity can perfect their echo chamber policy if they want.
Shades of Judean People's Front versus People's Front Of Judea.

beastlyslumber · 29/03/2023 22:11

The labour party have no chance of winning back the red wall. They despise working class people. They see their base as twitter, students, the woke, the laptop classes.

I think KJK's intervention has the potential to really shake things up. I hope lots of women here will also consider standing for public office.

ArabellaScott · 29/03/2023 22:12

a convincingly large mob of online crazies

I am taking that line in the article quite personally.

I'm not THAT fat.

It's a problem that Right Wing has become an insult.
A bird never flew on one wing, as my old nan used to say.
