"Non-crime hate incident"

Very 1984. Police have no business getting involved in anything other than directly threatening language.

Pixiedust1234 · 18/03/2023 10:56

She had received death threats against her, including one calling for her crucifixion, which had been reported to police, she added.

The paper needs to follow this up and see if those people got listed for non crime hate or charged. Now that would make interesting reading imo.

She had received death threats against her, including one calling for her crucifixion, which had been reported to police, she added. She was told UK residents had been visited by officers but that a man in the US was outside the jurisdiction of British police.

I wonder if the man making death threats was subject to any sanction? I suspect not. This non crime hate incident bullshit isn't applied even handedly, as we've seen from a number of these cases.

I'm really glad that Ms Kirby has had this pernicious marker removed and angry that it was there at all and the time it took, along with the distress she's suffered, as a result.

Sinister fucks

On death threats, I'm an absolutist. Making threats to kill is criminal offence, and a serious one at that so all of them should be investigated and if substantiated, prosecuted.

Arresting people for "dissing" the Alphabet flag (yes, it's happened) while ignoring death threats is beyond ludicrous.

TheBiologyStupid · 18/03/2023 13:34

Good grief, poor woman. No wonder the police are having trouble being taken seriously or trusted.

Magenta82 · 18/03/2023 14:09

Good for her.
How did this country's priorities get so messed up?

"If a member of the public reports harassing behaviour, we have a duty to investigate and will respond in a proportionate manner.”

Proportionate being the key word there. What a time to be alive.

SinnerBoy · 18/03/2023 15:15

"If a member of the public reports harassing behaviour, we have a duty to investigate and will respond in a proportionate manner.”

If a woman says you're not actually a woman, we will come round, kick her door in and invite her strongly for a voluntary interview. If you don't volunteer for an interview, it's the back of the car in cuffs.

If you have threatened to rape and murder a TERF, will will give you a shoulder to cry on, but understand entirely. If the bitch makes a complaint, we are legally obliged to take the call, whilst doing theatrical eyerolls and going "FFS, you mnisgendered her, what do you expect?" and to take no action. Don't worry, we've got your back!
