I picked up an organisation called Lifting Limits in my NEU mag. They are an organisation which goes into schools with ideas on challenging gender stereotyping (which I agree with) but on their website they talk about 'other genders' than male and female and the article mentions a superheroes exercise which results in a superhero who is 'genderfluid'. Also encourages children to want to add 'Twas the Night Before Pride' (celebrates 'queer' families, and gender diversity with siblings being nameless i.e. no indication of sex) and 'Gerald Wants to Wear Pink' (about kindness and diversity) to the library. Also seems to be intersectional e.g. a pupil quoted in the article concludes that a woman was not credited because she was Black (no capital for 'white') as well as female - if she had been a white man she would have got the credit, but no question whether a black man would also have got credit i.e. no question whether it is likelier that sex not colour is the source of the discrimination. Any thoughts? (I have grandchildren in primary school currently and wonder if they are being taught about many genders and that sex is less important than gender.) Am I being paranoid?
