There was a discussion about the SNP leadership contest and the gender recognition angle on PM yesterday afternoon. Interviewee was Prof. Tim Bale (Queen Mary's University, London) and I found myself yelling at the radio as he came out with tripe about SNP members skewing older than the general population and therefore having more 'socially conservative' views on this subject (ie GC not buying trans woo). By contrast, he said young people are more 'socially liberal' so 'more comfortable' drunk on the koolaid when it comes to gender recognition.
Why can't people see that the exact opposite is true?! The obsession with gender stereotypes that underpins the trans ideologues is hugely regressive and based on conservative/outdated ways of thinking. I am royally fed up with the attempt to paint GC people as 'right wing' and 'conservative'.
Even Bale acknowledged that 80% of SNP members were in favour of equal marriage so were a 'pretty socially liberal bunch'. Surely these data show him that these people cannot be described as socially conservative - rather they have reached different and considered (logical, intellectually coherent) conclusions on the issue of trans ideology.
