Recently launched by Julie Bindel, Kathleen Stock and Dr Tamara Burrows.

Wishing them all the very best, and meanwhile, a gold star for Julie Bindel for 'unbreakable wifi code' in this interview. 😂

Because women meeting together are profoundly scary to men.

Nonsense - nobody cares one way or the other about women meeting up. Meet away to your hearts' delight.

😂

MrsOvertonsWindow · 14/03/2023 15:08

Not spotted all the masked thugs outside every single women's meeting / conference have you pony? Closed your eyes or just looked the other way while the slurs and threats of sexual violence are issued?

Masked thugs outside, say, WI meetings (or the Welsh version around here where I live, Merched y Wawr) ? No, I haven't. What are the meetings you are talking about - maybe there are some men opposed to those particular meetings. and if there are some men being thuggish towards women, then the full weight of the law should be visited upon them, until they learn to leave women alone.

But, to suggest that any woman's meeting scares men in the least, is "profoundly" laughable.

BordoisAgain · 14/03/2023 15:46

The WI admit males so no reason for them to be targeted

MrsOvertonsWindow · 14/03/2023 15:46

You crack on laughing pony. The rest of us will continue to centre women and children's safety and to expect the forces of law and order to step out from under Stonewall's cloak and implement the law.

You tell that to the women's group that have been forced to pay £600 for private security for a meeting in Edinburgh today. Their crime? Talking about gender identity.

Or do you mean that women meeting is okay just so long as the topics are deemed acceptable?

kind of you, I'm sure.

And all the very best with the Lesbian project - but I don't see how making up such nonsense about men really assists you in the long run.

SapphosRock · 14/03/2023 06:45

Oh standard OJ then. He hates it when women do positive things for ourselves.

Lesbians are tired of being overlooked by LGBTQ+ orgs or used as a validation tool by men with paraphilias, it's definitely time we carved out some space for ourselves.

Damn right, as Julie said in Unherd - it's time to divorce ourselves from our gay brothers.

sawdustformypony · 14/03/2023 16:20

I think you have hit the nail firmly on the head. So it's not the case that "women meeting together are profoundly scary to men" per se. As you have alighted upon, re the meeting in Edinburgh, it's more likely that whatever it is that is being discussed annoys others, no doubt a mix of men and women, so much so that they feel strongly enough to want to demonstrate their bitter feelings and vent them against the meeting. As far as I am concerned the meeting should go ahead as planned without having to pay for private security and a police presence should be there to keep order.

I won't tell you on which side of the fence I stand, as it's not relevant to my point. .

nilsmousehammer · 14/03/2023 16:30

What was the excuse of the male people who took down a women's support group for a majorly life impacting chronic illness that only happens to female people? Why are their 'bitter feelings' the problem of women who just wanted to talk to each other and help each other and had spent a long time building up the trust and support in that community, and lost it because of a couple of blokes who stamped their feet about 'exclusion' from something that didn't even affect them?

And the male people who drove all the lesbian groups underground to escape?

And the male people who drove women out of the infertility and pregnancy loss groups?

So sick of this expectation of women indulging male people in this bloody horrible behaviour because they're 'upset' and have 'feelings'. Those women did too and no one cared.

Yes, this is happening a lot to women, it is wrong, and minimising it helps men and enables this behaviour. It does not help women.

nilsmousehammer · 14/03/2023 16:33

Actually if we tick off meeting to talk about pregnancy, issues affecting female biology, homosexuality and human rights/equality of access for women because they provoke men ...

are we allowed to meet and talk about babies? Knitting perhaps?

CompleteGinasaur · 14/03/2023 16:37

I'm fairly sure they'd let us have consciousness raising groups to help us get past our wilful and prejudiced inability to accept those poor oppressed and vulnerable women with penises into our dating pools..

nilsmousehammer · 14/03/2023 17:18

But not male-free. They would have to be supervised to make sure the wilful women's prejudices didn't get them talking about the Wrong Things when male people and their minions weren't looking.

sawdustformypony · 14/03/2023 17:39

You've gone back to your fantasy world it seems. Enjoy.

CompleteGinasaur · 14/03/2023 17:41

Kind of you, I'm sure.

nilsmousehammer · 14/03/2023 17:48

How I would love for the groups described above to be just a 'fantasy' that didn't happen to real women.

I think the fantasy part is saying it doesn't exist and walking away. Key issue with the whole situation on almost every thread across the board: identifying out of the mucky and uncomfortable bits of reality does not work for women.

Looks like Billy Bragg has libelled Julie Bindel on Twitter and she's given him 24 hours to remove.

Signalbox · 14/03/2023 18:12

Billy Bragg is such a monumental dickhead.

I used to adore Billy Bragg, saw him
A few times.
He is such a disappointment- what can't he and all
These other 'socialist' men have the fucking backbone to say 'hang on, we've got it wrong here. We need to show solidarity to our sisters, exploited as workers in the capitalist system and as women in domestic settings.'
That's a whole load of women he and little OJ are crapping all over and once these trans activists are older in a few years and have to do the things adults do, well...we women won't forget where those men where when we were being intimidated and threatened with Taor and violence. Thanks brothers.✊🏻

twitter.com/bindelj/status/1635647364068171777

Yep.

A straight man thinks it's his place to dictate what lesbians can and can't say, and who should be included in organisations set up by lesbians. And when they say something he disagrees with, he literally puts words in their mouths to make them look bad.

Despite all this, he can't see what a monumental misogynist he is.

Wanker

nilsmousehammer · 14/03/2023 18:34

....lost now, is Bragg's point that creepy and inappropriate behaviour is a normal part of being gay? Because no. It's not.

Signalbox · 14/03/2023 18:34

He must be a bit dim as well he doesn’t recognise the difference between telling a lie about what someone has said an opinion that someone is a misogynist. He can’t be that stupid that he thinks he’s got a point.

PronounssheRa · 14/03/2023 18:45

I genuinely don't think he cares, he just wants another stick to beat Julie with.

It's astonishing behaviour.

QueenHippolyta · 14/03/2023 21:05

@Trellist :Damn right, as Julie said in Unherd - it's time to divorce ourselves from our gay brothers.

Absolutely agree. Gay men don't give a hang about Lesbians and the majority are misogynists, it's something straight women are now waking up to.

I left the Rainbow alphabet around 2019; my loyalty is entirely to women and Lesbians.

Coffeesnob11 · 14/03/2023 21:22

Got to love a bit of whatabouttery. Remind sme of when I organised a lunch for the women at work (very much the minority) and some of the men asked what about us. They were then horrified that I suggested they should organise their own lunch and claimed it was bullying and exclusionary by not inviting them ( we wrrent invited to many sports events and pub nights but it doesnt vount apparently). It was quickly sorted and we carried on but really. Go and start your own group.
