I'm interested to know more about Amnesty's record re women/the gender debate. (It sounds like there is more to the story than I realised) I remember watching an interview a while ago with someone from Amnesty Ireland (granddaughter/daughter of a founder?), also, reading an article about how Amnesty wouldn't support Navalney as a prisoner of conscience because of his political beliefs- and both of these showed how far Amnesty seemed to have moved from their original raison d'etre.
I don't want to hijack this thread, so apologies- although it does seem relevant and related, and my own search hasn't been very successful- so I'd really appreciate if anyone would be happy to post any links to better inform me please (for me- and also as someone close to me has been a lifelong supporter and I want them to be aware- with more evidence than the two examples I've already sent their way).
A bit rambly.. but at least I managed to catch and correct raison d'etre from raisin d'etre before posting!
