Men taking over IWD? #imyourally

For IWD tomorrow there’s a campaign for men to ‘take over’ social media and show how they’re allies to women. Their mission states ‘we’re taking over social media to hear from the young men of today about the women that inspire them.’

Am I the only one who thinks this should not be another space for men to take over and assert their viewpoint?

There’s loads of posts already on LinkedIn…and they’re full of people praising the men for how great they are to do this…..is this what IWD is about now? Men?

The charitable Trust I used to work for had a big thing about the highly paid big bosses buying random women in their line management bunches of flowers for IWD.

(Expensed obvs)

Stands out in my memory as the most patronising offensive b* I ever saw. Like being patted on the head for having ovaries AND the ability to get a whole! actual! job!
