Fifa's appointment of supermodel Adriana Lima as its first global fan ambassador five months before the Women's World Cup is "tone deaf", says former Fifa council member Moya Dodd.

Brazilian Lima will "develop, promote and participate in global initiatives" before the World Cup, which starts on 20 July in Australia and New Zealand.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said Lima "lives and breathes 'futebol'".

The following story about Sepp Blatter is not entirely relevant to the discussion but I always like to repeat it at any opportunity

I just shared the BBC article on the women's football thread, such a backwards step.

That Hershey thing is part of this new trend where transwomen are centred. The International Day of Women and Girls in Science elicited a transwoman as the central figure from one British governmental organisation, a transwoman was crowned the winner in a local beauty pageant in New Hampshire, US, and transwomen now win lots of cycling and running races, too.

Given the new census data from both Canada and England and Wales, it looks like their representation exceeds their population percentages by quite a large margin. Probably something to do with unconscious sexism and the need to be kind etc.

FIFA cancel the Saudi sponsorship but call it a 'storm in a tea cup'

They almost did the right thing without making fools of themselves

Infantino is a man who is likely to score an own goal in the last minute of the game

The best ever is when someone just threw money all over him.

However, I think Sepp in his own way genuinely thought he was doing football a service. Infantino on the other hand is just a corrupt pos who undoubtedly enriches himself much more personally than Blatter ever did.
