From around 14 mins.... he's discussing NI Protocol first but then moves on to talk about TW in female estate.

I thought uh-oh when he started off about "female... er, trans female...." but then he got into his stride and I thought was quite straightforward for a general audience.

Never thought I'd see the day I agreed with him!

....no one? Thought it was good to see this aired!

Qu: It sounds like the government is effectively saying TWANW?

A: No...

Qu: But this does have wider social implications because it's not self-ID...?

A: I want us to be respectful but we also have to protect the vulnerable.

My impression- aside from saying trans females - is that he got the technical detail and defended the change well.

Yes I thought so too. I mean, it wasn't the most in-depth thing I've ever heard, but he sounded (after the initial bit) sure of his ground, reasonable, and clear. He got across the vulnerability part and emphasised tolerance but also the importance of safeguarding - he says sthg along the lines of 'tolerance is really important but the No 1 priority is stopping women getting hurt'.

For anyone who remembers various political meltdowns on the subject from Jo Swinson onwards, I thought it was refreshingly calm and no-nonsense.

24 civil servants have accused him of bullying. Claims of melt downs at work etc Sounds refreshingly tolerant.

I am not talking about him in general - think the tone of my post makes it pretty clear I don't like him as a rule. I meant instead the discussion on air.

Some of the charges against Raab are really silly, like he gave staff hard stares. Rather like Paddington Bear then.

One of his friends said he looks as if he'd like to thump you but it's just his face. Having spent my entire life being told to 'cheer up, it may never happen' (no longer give a flying fuck), I sympathise with him.

No, I never thought I'd say that either

Anyway, let's hope his sympathies lie with women.

Yup none of the charges are exactly concrete. And two things could be true at once even if they were and the investigation was complete and had found against him
