Can anyone explain why this comment was deleted by The Times, for breaking community guidelines?

Under an article entitled, Rishi Sunak includes transgender people in conversion therapy ban.

Telling a potentially gay child they are a transexual IS conversion therapy. Telling a potentially gay child they need cross sex hormones & surgery IS conversion therapy.
Let children go through puberty & reach maturity. Stop telling children there is something wrong with them when there isn’t!

It was the most liked comment, then got pulled overnight-how is it offensive/hateful?

It's neither hateful, nor offensive. It's accurate.
That's the problem.

Because we are now run by fascism. Literally. Truth isn't allowed.

Sleepyquest · 18/01/2023 13:22

I posted something similar on daily Mail and it got rejected. It's true though.
There's no such thing as transgender conversion therapy - there's only trying to get people to deal with their issues another way that isn't major surgery.

Transexual....? But I'm really reaching here.

It's because the Times algorithm allows for comments to be removed following one or two complaints. There are countless examples - especially in relation to trans, safeguarding & children
When I've been deleted I normally respond repeating the comment with a couple of little word changes , along the lines of.."It's a shame the leading comment disappeared / is no longer as it merely asked / pointed out / highlighted that ... repeat comment."
(Don't use the word deleted as that seems to trigger another deletion). It's also worth commenting on what it is that some people are desperate to silence.

Yes, as a PP said, complaints will tend to net a deletion. A few of us experimented with that under a particular (unrelated, but inflammatory) article last year.
