Is there such a thing? DD9 is 9, and is currently really into Milli's Hill's (excellent!) 'My Period' book, while I've had to stop reading a Xmas present book about how the lack of interest/plain prejudice against female biology (wandering uteruses causing hysteria et al) has harmed women throughout history and continues to. This is because the poor author has to keep stopping and issuing clarifications to make sure that she doesn't come across as transphobic for talking about how prejudice against women historically has been so linked to female biology.
Is there such a thing as a history of feminism, how it related to female biology, and how the idea of feminism came about, which is suitable for a 9 year old?
DD knows about things like the suffragettes and that historically (and sometimes currently), women weren't expected or allowed to do much except get married and have children, but I wonder if there is anything more about the the 'theory' behind feminism and the idea of patriarchy?
Not expressing this very well, but hopefully the clever posters at FWR know what I mean!
