Does Nationwide Building Society REALLY think adult babies are worthy of respect?

So a poster on Twitter made a thread about a throuple (this is a word for a sexual and romantic relationship between three people) where the three adult males like to imagine they are a family, and take the roles of mother, older sister and baby. The one who takes the part of the baby tweets about wearing a nappy and waking up with it "shitty".

It's not unusual for people to post about their "diaper-fetishes" on social media. Nor is it unusual for people to react strongly to such posts.

However this is the weird bit. A second poster tagged Nationwide Building Society in, and asked its personnel for comment. And Nationwide replied.

Wanna hear what the social media comms person said when Nationwide got tagged into a thread showing three males in a presumably sexual relationship who also roleplay as mother and daughters/sisters?

2/2 We believe it's more important than ever to have respect when talking to, or about one another. Please review your comment. #MutualRespect. Amy

Adult babies with sexual fixations on nappies are WORIADS, are they? Wow, we've dropped the standards some.

I can't see it either. I'll try checking the account timeline to see if I can find it.

Why the HELL did the social media person on duty reply at all?

And nah, will not be respecting adults who pretend to be children for sexual reasons.

So blinded by their own piety they didn't scroll up and see what the poster was responding to, hilarious and tragic at the same time.

HermioneWeasley · 02/12/2022 18:32

They have made themselves look ridiculous

bellac11 · 02/12/2022 18:34

Whats a woriad?

WomaninBoots · 02/12/2022 18:35

Worthy of respect in a democratic society.

oviraptor21 · 02/12/2022 18:36

It's a viewpoint that's 'worthy of respect in a democratic society'. Like woman = adult human female.

WomaninBoots · 02/12/2022 18:37

It's fucking grim is what it is.

LlynTegid · 02/12/2022 18:37

Seems like whoever manages their Twitter thread was bored one day so replied.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/12/2022 18:42

I've been using the internet without supervision since I was 16 years old. My emotional reactions to "male people posting pictures related to their fetishes" are flattened through overexposure, to an extent that is probably pathological. I saw these pictures before the building society replied and I just scrolled on by.

But Nationwide, when you instructed me to respect anyone engaging in incest roleplay, you made my cold dead heart feel something. I think it's rage though.

🤷‍♀️

I don't know why these Social Media professionals don't stick to their faux jolly replies and pointing people to the right place on their website/complaints system.

They are not there to change the world.

nilsmousehammer · 02/12/2022 18:54

What 'respect' is owed to anyone pushing their fetish in the face of non consenting others?

It's bloody awful behaviour. The particular gender identity of the person doing it has no bearing on it being still bloody awful behaviour.

One of the photos posted by TroonyToons shows the one of the throuple who role-plays the baby lying on a changing table in a public bathroom. Sick.

WomaninBoots · 02/12/2022 19:11

The idea of using a public adult changing table for sexual kicks.... rage inducing. It's like taking the absolute piss out of disabled people that actually have to use them isn't it?

Sot here is.

What was that about "mutual respect", Amy?

Where are these people showing respect for others when they monopolise a changing table for their own sexually-motivated selfies and games?

I don't know if that's a table intended for babies and toddlers, or one intended for disabled adults, but I am sure what it's not intended for!

Why are nationwide getting the blame ffs!!

I hate this cancel culture we have these days and everyone is trying to find something to be triggered about.

Nationwide supported a pride event.

Someone decided to have a dig because they don’t agree with supporting pride.

Nationwide replied that they support pride.

So the person posted those photos and nationwide sent that in reply which is about having respect for everyone.
They probably didn’t even look at the photos.

I don’t get why people have more of an issue with nationwide, rather than the people who are doing what they disagree with.

I personally think dressing up as a baby etc is weird but this fetish has been well known for years and it’s usually a heterosexual couple and the baby is usually men who’ve been abused by their mum.
Most are asexual so it’s not even a sexual thing but they were fed with a bottle and hugged like a baby.

I would argue that this trip are literally just doing it for attention considering they’ve posted it all over SM as they’re ‘so different’.

It’s pretty fucked up but its not just a trans person thing and it’s not nationwides fault.

WomaninBoots · 02/12/2022 19:27

Nationwide should really have looked at the photos if they are going to declare to the world that we should "respect" what is in the photos, no ?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/12/2022 19:37

The pictures were posted first, CarefreeMe.

If the person on duty thought the thread was important enough to.reply to, twice, then it was important enough for him or her to Read the Opening Post and find out what Nationwide had been tagged in.

The person tagging was objecting to kinks like adult-babyism being normalised at Pride. What did Nationwide do?.Normalise it.

In your words, it's a heterosexual thing, so what has it got to do with Pride?

There is such a thing as so open minded your brains fall out.

WomaninBoots · 02/12/2022 19:45

There's only one reason to bring a fetish out into public. It is to shock and disgust people and thus get even more of a kick out of it. The point of many fetishes is the sense of shame that is experienced... that's often where the actual sexual thrill lies. This involves unconventional people in the pursuit of sexual gratification.

To do this is very much NOT respectful of anyone else in society.

Personally I don't have respect for people who act in such an antisocial way.
